"I rarely give a straight five stars, but this gem deserves it! A party of 5, we were given a spacious round table in this elegantly decorated French/American place. Background music was pleasant w/o being loud/annoying. Food was superb and reasonably priced given the quality. Service was excellent. The Executive Chef came to our table to inquire about preparing a special dish for us due to dietary restrictions! Please go. You will not be disappointed."

Rated a Top 5 Newcomer by Zagat 2008, Midtown brings an authentic taste of eastern Mediterranean cuisine to Manhattan.

Pera derives its name from an elegant neighborhood in Istanbul that has served as the melting pot for many cultures and cuisines since the 17th century. Pera features numerous mezes, specially prepared and marinated cuts of grilled meats and seafood, traditional and modern Mediterranean side dishes and regional breads baked a la minute.

The main courses focus on delicately marbled grilled meats that are cooked on a 10-foot-long open flame grill. Guests can choose from a variety of different cuts of lamb, beef and chicken, or opt for the traditional chefs tasting menu featuring assorted successive servings of house specialties.

Private Dining, special events, full-service catering and delivery services are also available.

"I have enjoyed this place on several occasions. I must say that the quality of the experience has been deteriorating. I was there on a pre-holiday night for dinner when the place was virtually empty. I actually had to ask for someone to serve us. Also, my favorite dish there at lunch was a whole bronzino which was fabulous. Inexplicably, it was removed fro the lunch menu. When I was there for dinner it was offered as a special for $38, while the menu fish items were about $30. I decided to go for it anyway. The fish was half the size as the one they offered at lunch and the preparation was not nearly as good. It would be helpful if the menu translated some of the dishes. Pera is not too far gone, but if they don't get their act together I will cross it off of my list."
