"We came here cuz I wanted breakfast and husband wanted lunch. This was a great choice. I had the Italian cheese scramble; mild Italian sausage, fontina cheese, 'shrooms and tomatoes. On the side was a delicious serving of polenta - a great change of the normal house potatoes, plus 2 pieces of toast. Husband was happy with his Italian sub, filled with four different meats, cheese, tomatoes and fresh lettuce."

Belden Taverna is an Italian Steakhouse. The cuisine is a memorable blend of bold flavors and elegant refinement. We serve contemporary American classics, beautiful Mediterranean themed salads, fresh seafood dishes and we use nothing but California farm fresh produce.

"We split the roasted beet salad with arugala, bleu cheese, roasted almonds with balsamic dressing; very tasty. The bread was ver good, too. I had the half order of spaghetti with dungeness crab, grilled corn, asparagus, garlic and sliced jalapeno. It was quite tasty. There were a couple of other pasta dishes to have as a half order. Husband had beef, three ways - which was a grilled filet, marrow with toasted seasoned bread crumbs and another preparation of beef, served with mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and a wine enhanced gravy. He had the chocolate mousse for dinner. Creamy, not overly sweet with a huge dollop of whipped cream. We sat upstairs, as outdoors was packed. Deep red walls with warm lighting. Service was great."

John's Grill has been a San Francisco tradition since 1908. This historic restaurant is one of the city's oldest and most famous and is a favorite of celebrities who enjoy great steaks, expertly prepared fresh seafood with excellent service and a one of a kind atmosphere. John's Grill was a setting in author Dashiell Hammetts, The Maltese Falcon. The restaurant has earned many tributes: it has been chosen as one of the 10 best by Esquire and featured in Gourmet Magazine. Live jazz nightly in the upper level dining room.

"Husband ordered the rib eye. He said it was basic, no flavor/seasoning. I had the chef's fish which was red snapper topped with crab and shrimp, topped with a lemon sauce. Oh my, what a glutinous mess that came instead! The fish was hot - only good thing. The shrimp were those really tiny shrimp, the crab meat totally disappeared in the sauce that barely tasted of lemon. It didn't even look appetizing! Both entrees came with crispy green beans, a couple of pieces of broccoli and ONE tiny carrot. The "baked" potato was baked, but seemed like it was nuked again before it was put on the plate. And for what we paid for these awful meals...."

For centuries, cafes the world over have provided patrons with entertainment that draws on all walks of life. In these gathering places of art, politics, fashion, and everyday events, cafe-goers partake in a unique convergence of eclectic culture and traditional cuisine. "We went for brunch. I had the omelet, filled with tomatoes, spinach and feta. It was filling, but light. It came with yummy "home fries" - diced potatoes with the skin on and wheat toast. Creamy butter and smooth raspberry preserves. Husband had the sausage and egg croissant sandwich. I saw someone's plate of pancakes. They looked so good; flat, but cake-like. The ambiance was really great, felt like I was in Paris. Great coffee, too."

"Husband had the calamari, said it was best ever and it was a huge serving. I had the baby lettuce salad, which was tasty and pretty. The warm bread was yummy. I had the Hawaiian butterfish with risotto and roasted squash. It was soooo good, I didn't want it to end. Husband had the sauteed salmon with cauliflower couscous, asparagus and lemon sauce. Both portions were good-sized. Husband had the chocolate-espresso mousse. Service was great and friendly."

"We split the house salad, big enough to do so. Assorted greens with walnuts, sun-dried tomatoes and crumbled Gorgonzola. Husband had the veal scallopine and sautéed spinach with garlic, toasted pine nuts & reconstituted raisins. I had the homemade ravioli with minced duck. It was topped with red & yellow diced tomatoes with herbs. The bread was delicious, just like cake. The owner said they bake it twice a day. It came with olive oil infused with herbs and a tomato based sauce. Both were great. We split the New York style cheesecake, a good-sized serving. It came with raspberry sauce and freshly sliced peaches."

If you don’t live in Ghent, La Bella will make you want to move there just so you can claim this Italian charmer as your neighborhood Italian Bistro.

In 2007, a family tradition was carried out from Andrea Di Carlo, combining the warmth of the traditional Italian dining experience with signature family recipes from the original Trattoria La Bella Italia in Virginia Beach on Laskin Road. Fresh ingredients and careful preparations aren’t surprising, given that chef-owner Andrea DiCarlo learned from his mother, Anna Alaimo, making fresh pasta with her since he was a young boy at the Virginia Beach location.

"The three of us split the calamari appetizer. A generous portion, lightly battered and fried and served with a chunky marinara sauce. I had the spinach lasagna, piping hot, cheesy and so good I didn't want the dish to end. The other two each had the salmon special. Very large servings of potato encrusted salmon, lightly seasoned, served over a bed of roasted carrots, asparagus and the like."

"We went for Norfolk's Restaurant Week - 3 courses for $30. We each had the Caesar salad. It had a hint of hot pepper spice shredded cheese, melted bits of sharp cheddar and great croutons. For our entree, we had the shrimp creole. For a change, it came with a yellow rice that resembled couscous. The sauce had tiny bursts of dried lemon. For dessert, I had the lemon cake with a hint of lavender. It was presented in a Ball jar with layers of fresh fruit and whipped cream. Hubby had something with chocolate. Everything was great! Every table in the main dining area has a view of the Elizabeth River."

"Mom had the Atlantic salmon. A good-sized serving and was cooked to order with a balsamic reduction glaze. Served over squash and haricot verts. I had the almond encrusted scallops. So yummy; wish there was another scallop on the plate! Served over spinach couscous with a cream sauce made of white chocolate and bananas. So subtle, but soooo good. Husband had the mahi mahi special that he thoroughly enjoyed. And everything was presented so nicely on the plate. Mom and I split the apple pie served in puff pastry with the creamiest vanilla gelato we've ever had."
