One of the most important restaurants of 2013 by Zagat Magazine!<br />The Commander's Family of Restaurants returns to the French Quarter, where the family business began in the 1950's, with our Spirited Restaurant - SoBou. We're South of Bourbon (ok - it's really southeast), in the land of civilized drinking and worlds away from the oversized beers and bad frozen drinks. Our modern Creole saloon is a Louisiana-centric and street food inspired restaurant with a beverage focus.

"This restaurant pleasantly surprised us. The menu is an eclectic mix of Latin and Louisiana. The shrimp and tasso pinchos are a must. This is the best of Puerto Rico and New Orleans combined. The decor is a little too modern and trendy for the French Quarter and the service is slow, but the food is great!"

Opened in October 2001 with native John Besh at the helm, Restaurant August is the only restaurant to be awarded a perfect "5 Bean" score from <i>The Times-Picayune</i> in the past two years. <i>Food & Wine</i> bestowed Besh with the honor of "Best New Chef" in 1998. <i>Gourmet</i> magazine's Guide to America's Best Restaurants listed August in its top five picks in New Orleans.
