"Living in Lexington, we've noted a deterioration of the quality of "upper-end" steak houses, prices remain high and quality has plummeted. For that reason, we find it necessary and satisfying to make the 75 minute drive to Ruth's Chris Steak House in Louisville. This time, as always, our experience made the trip worthwhile. Our rib eyes were superb and cooked EXACTLY as ordered (for my family; "Pittsburghed" rare to medium rare; a most difficult doneness to achieve). The service was attentive without being distracting and the venue is attractive and "special". This occasion was for a combination wedding anniversary and 21st birthday of our son. If not for the distance, we wouldn't need a special occasion to dine here."

Tops Magazine | 2013 - Blake Hannon

...Then, there are places like The Julep Cup, which is intent on elevating it to obscenely delicious levels....Chef Lindsay’s specialty is infusing southern comfort food with a bit of French flair...She graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago and earned the Superior Cuisine Medal...in Paris, (France). This deft hand is evident from your first bite to your last...Now, the Julep Cup has evolved into one of best places in Lexington... As my colleague, photographer Keni Parks, nicely put it when hearing the dish’s description, “every word you just said I love.” I agreed, but words barely do this tasty entrée justice.
Everything about The Julep Cup, from what’s on the walls to what’s on your plate, will give you a feeling that you’re experiencing something both familiar and unexpected.

"I haven't been back to this restaurant in several years, remembering a good but undistinguished experience; however, we were much impressed by an excellent and wide-ranging menu, excellent food preparation, a superb and reasonably priced wine menu, and excellent service. We're going to return much more often and enjoy this refined and rewarding dining experience. Our only minor issue was that "rare" steak was served "medium rare" and "medium rare" came out "medium". The tenderness and flavor of the meat dissuaded any complaints, but we'll "under-order" the doneness of our meat at this place in the future."

The hamburger is over 100 years old.

It’s a classic, purely American, and an icon. The hamburger is the people’s sandwich, everyman’s food.

BRU is an ode to our love….the Burger.

Paired with a beer, we can’t imagine what could be much better.

Welcome to BRU Burger Bar.

"Our first visit to this Lexington burger joint was quite promising; however, our repeat visit revealed a diminished quality in the burgers (? size reduction, ? meat quality reduction) so that the relatively expensive prices did not seem as appropriate as before. In addition, the small table provided our party of 5 did not permit any movement to avoid the glare of the sun through the poorly shaded windows, reducing the ambiance to barely tolerable. Won't be back again."

As the name implies, fresh is the focus at Palmers.

More than just fresh ingredients, Palmers is a fresh twist on what an enjoyable dining experience should provide. A fresh way to please your palate, featuring savory dishes and a menu changing up to four times a year. Palmers also offers weekly specials truly capturing the essence of seasonal flavors.

With a casually sophisticated ambiance, complemented with knowledgable and friendly service staff, Palmers provides one of Lexington's favorite dining experiences. Enjoy lakeside seating and live music on the spacious patio during warm weather months.

Looking for another reason to raise your glass? Enjoy our award-winning wine and cocktail list.

"I refrained from characterizing this restaurant from the first two visits, each time hoping things would improve. With many venues in town for red meat, I hoped that Palmers would be a place to order fish. Unfortunately, each time, my moderately sized portion of fish was overcooked to the point of toughness (cooking instructions for grilled fish should not need to be part of my order). Again, the wine selection, this time a sauvignon blanc, was severely overpriced (a 400% markup for this familiar New Zealand vintage) with few reasonable alternatives for a dry white. When discussing this with our server, her response was that some diners enjoy the leathery texture. I hope that Palmers isn't aiming their cuisine for such masochists."
