Tiella serves modern Southern Italian cuisine. Its inventive and sophisticated menu is inspired by and elevates the home-cooked meals and peasant culinary traditions owners Giuseppe Castellano and Mario Coppola were raised with in Naples, Italy. Indeed, Tiella takes its name from the Neopolitan word for a cast-iron pan that is used for baking, grilling or frying meats, fish and breads. Our signature tiellas are pizza-like appetizers baked in our wood-fired oven.

Our philosophy is that the greatest meals require the finest ingredients. We import mozzarella di bufala, stracciatella and other fine cheeses, as well as risotto and prosciutto from Italy. Many other ingredients are sourced from local producers and farmers. To ensure that we serve the very best bread and pasta, we make our own.

The extensive wine list is comprised of Italian makers and complements the menu.

"The reviews brought me and my friend to Tiella and it didn't disappoint. It's starts with their great tasting bread, something I usually discount when I evaluate a restaurant. I ordered the Halibut special in parchment with string beans, capers, etc. It was light and substantial at the same time. My friend ordered the Bronzini. She loved it. I had the kale salad and it was a great combination of fresh greens, cheese and a wonderful salad dressing. My friend had the salad with goat cheese and loved every bite. My cappuccino was perfect. It's pricey but I didn't feel that I overspent. I couldn't go there frequently but I don't have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy the food and accommodating but not overly solicitous service."

Cafe Joul, a French-American bistro, has been a perpetually popular staple in the Sutton Place neighborhood since the year 2000. A convivial, neighborhood atmosphere combined with the high-quality cuisine of chef-owner Bertrand Vernejoul have created a large devoted following.

"Cafe Joul never disappoints. Whether I'm in the mood for something light or more elaborate I can find it on the menu. On my last visit I had the salmon with kale and quinoa. It was outstanding. When asked how I wanted the salmon prepared, I left it to the chef and it was perfect, medium rare. The bibb lettuce salad is one of my favorites, fresh greens and grape seed dressing. My friend had the onion soup and said it was just the right blend of great soup and heavenly cheese. Her entree was the liver and she thought it was well prepared. And then we succumbed to the apple tart with ice cream. What a way to go! And we'll be back for more of everything."

"Not note worthy. Chom Chom's menu offers a wide selection. We ordered the sampler appetizer and salad to start. We ordered a chicken dish for an entree. All of these dishes came out quickly, too quickly. There wasn't anything wrong with the food. It just wasn't good enough to want to come back or encourage others to try it."
