Since 1980, La Mediterranee Bistro & Wine Bar has been well known in Manhattan for traditional French cuisine and contemporary specialties served in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
La Mediterranee Bistro & Wine Bar is a French Bistro carrying not only the gastronomic traditions of Provence and Cote D' Azur, but also those of other regions of France, represented in our daily specials such as: Bouillabaisse, Pot au feu and Cassoulet. We offer an array of fresh seafood, with a great emphasis on mussels, including five different recipes. The Italian influence in the South of France is of course manifested in our pastas prepared with our family recipes.

"I came for the outdoor seating on a beautiful Spring day. The construction on the other side of the street brought me inside. But I wasn't disappointed with my dining experience. The special of soft shell crab was exceptional, firm and tasty. The fig salad was a a delightful mixture of taste and textures. The piano player was good, his music appropriate and not intrusive. All in all glad I tried the Bistro and I will be going back."

Cafe Joul, a French-American bistro, has been a perpetually popular staple in the Sutton Place neighborhood since the year 2000. A convivial, neighborhood atmosphere combined with the high-quality cuisine of chef-owner Bertrand Vernejoul have created a large devoted following.
"I brought two guests from out of town knowing that whatever they were in the mood for and however hungry they were Cafe Joul would satisfy. And it did. Two of us had the calves liver, one preferred medium, the other medium rare. The dishes came out just as we wanted. The liver's texture was even and firm, not mushy as it sometimes is served. The mushroom and onions on the side were sauteed to perfection with a sauce that was light and well seasoned...or was that simply the remains of what the vegetables were sauteed in? Doesn't matter. It was good. My other guest enjoyed the lemon sole. Always delighted with Cafe Joul...the food, the service and rustic atmosphere."

Housed in a comfortable midtown brownstone, the restaurant occupies two floors, with a capacity for 115 people. Each dining room evokes a warm, intimate feeling and reflects the colors and images of Spain accented by a display of contemporary art. Party space is available in two locations within the restaurant; the "Patio" room, enclosed for year-round use and accommodating a maximum of 16 people and the "Salon", located on the second floor with a capacity for 40. Solera's cuisine has traditional roots and explores the primary flavors found in Spanish cooking. Whether you choose to enjoy Tapas, Paella or the Main Courses Solera offers its guests a taste of Spain in an authentic, yet contemporary manner. Solera's Wine List is exclusively Spanish. It is 'value priced' and reflects Spain's many diverse geographical regions. Additionally, they offer approximately 15-20 wines by the glass, and twenty-five Sherries and Montillas that form a perfect compliment to its regional cuisine

"Solera is an excellent choice for well prepared tapas and a good glass of wine. The beef empanada was not generous with the beef. It was more like a vegetable with beef wrap. However, the meat balls were dense and delicious, and the sauce was excellent. I loved the mushrooms with garlic; my friend not so much (more for me). The broccoli rabe salad added texture to our variety. It was well made. I just wouldn't choose it for a salad before an entree as the broccoli rabe is intrinsically bitter and is truly more like a side dish and not refreshing, my reason for having a salad. The crouquetas, my friend's "must have" tapas, were light, tasty and a very generous portion. In fact all the dishes were generous. Wait staff was great. I'll be back."

Tiella serves modern Southern Italian cuisine. Its inventive and sophisticated menu is inspired by and elevates the home-cooked meals and peasant culinary traditions owners Giuseppe Castellano and Mario Coppola were raised with in Naples, Italy. Indeed, Tiella takes its name from the Neopolitan word for a cast-iron pan that is used for baking, grilling or frying meats, fish and breads. Our signature tiellas are pizza-like appetizers baked in our wood-fired oven.

Our philosophy is that the greatest meals require the finest ingredients. We import mozzarella di bufala, stracciatella and other fine cheeses, as well as risotto and prosciutto from Italy. Many other ingredients are sourced from local producers and farmers. To ensure that we serve the very best bread and pasta, we make our own.

The extensive wine list is comprised of Italian makers and complements the menu.

"The reviews brought me and my friend to Tiella and it didn't disappoint. It's starts with their great tasting bread, something I usually discount when I evaluate a restaurant. I ordered the Halibut special in parchment with string beans, capers, etc. It was light and substantial at the same time. My friend ordered the Bronzini. She loved it. I had the kale salad and it was a great combination of fresh greens, cheese and a wonderful salad dressing. My friend had the salad with goat cheese and loved every bite. My cappuccino was perfect. It's pricey but I didn't feel that I overspent. I couldn't go there frequently but I don't have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy the food and accommodating but not overly solicitous service."
