Opened in 2002, this local favorite has become an institution. Light Horse Tavern's chef, Carlos Ortega brings a new exciting vision to the Jersey City culinary scene. The chef's philosophy is to source out seasonal ingredients and to preserve the integrity of the product when cooking.

The seasonal menu always includes a variety of fresh oysters and clams, as well as lighter fare such as the grilled octopus salad, fresh market fish, and heartier favorites such as the prime steaks.

Whether settling in at the bar for a pint or indulging in the spectacular cuisine, you are sure to become addicted to the experience. Visit any day for lunch, weekend days for brunch, and always for exquisite food, people watching and pristine outdoor seating.

Light Horse Tavern, a revolutionary dining experience!

"The food and service was outstanding. We started with clams -- delicious and fresh. We had duck breast -- and the red snapper -- both were delicious. We ended with coffee and the bread pudding -- a perfect ending. We highly recommend frequenting this restaurant."

Churrascaria Plataforma Brazilian Steakhouse is a Rodizio style restaurant. Rodizio is a method of serving meat that originated in the south of Brazil in the early 1800's. The concept is to serve a wide variety of different cuts of beef - sirloin, baby beef, top round, skirt steak, short ribs, brisket, rib eye; pork - ham, pork ribs, sausage, pork loin, suckling pig; chicken - chicken legs, chicken hearts; turkey - wrapped in bacon; lamb, fish, etc. in succession, to each diner individually right at their table. A meal typically begins with a trip to the gourmet salad bar, which features a variety of vegetables and composed salads in addition to four hot dishes. We also serve a selection of side dishes at your table. The main course, the highlight of the meal, will start when you flip your coaster-sized "chip" from the red side to the green side, signaling the meat cutters you're ready to be served. Winner of Three Consecutive NYC Health Dept "Golden Apple Award".

"In order to enjoy the abundance of meat and the plentiful salad bar, you need to put up with some negatives -- noisy and almost chaotic atmosphere -- side dishes that we couldn't even touch due to poor taste, cold, and not good at all. They used to have a location that was down in Tribeca and it was so much more enjoyable (for its service, ambience, all food, etc.)."

Classic Gotham Steakhouse located in the ultra chic Meat Packing District, established in 1868. The restaurant maintains it's strong relationships with their butchers, allowing them to get their first pick of beef. Nothing but prime dry aged meat - always has been and always will be. Winner of the 2006 Wine Spectator Award. Lobsters ranging in sizes from 4 - 13 lbs., sushi grade tuna, sockeye salmon, Colossal crab meat and shrimp so big they are referred to as small bananas.

"We were so looking forward to our late lunch at this place. All was going very well until it didn't. What we realized happened is that staff BOLT out of there when their shift ends.....and there is a lag before the next shift is ready to take over. So after we finished our meal, we sat for quite a long time (more than 20 minutes!) without anyone taking away our dishes, leaving us with empty drinks, etc. We had to find someone to help us. By the time that they did offer us dessert and coffee, we were ready to get out of there. There are so many steakhouses in NYC -- so I am not sure I would give this one another chance (although the food, atmosphere, and initial service were quite good)."

"Our 2 recent experiences were great -- service was professional and attentive -- and everything we ordered was delicious. We had stayed away from this restaurant for a few years (after repeated bad service back in 2011) so we are very happy that we have given them another chance. Try it, you will like it!"

"We really enjoyed everything we ordered....the wedge salad, the house salad, filet mignon, hangar steak, mushrooms, fries. Service was very good. The one question that kept on going through our minds was: why are we the only ones here? Is there something that others know that we don't? And then we left and just outside the front door, we were looking at the posted menu for other meals, and the Host came outside to ask us if we wanted to come in for dinner? We quickly responded that we just did! He looked shocked -- but yet, he was the very host/staff person who claimed he was expecting us and he sat us at our table for dinner. We were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant (other than the staff). Yes, the food was enjoyable but.."

The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America's oldest restaurant. The Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to pre-revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar, where Daniel Webster was a constant customer, in their original positions.

"After the initial "shock" (aka: rudeness) of the host staff (at the first host stand, and even the second host stand at the top of the stairs), it was worth waiting for our reserved table. Our table server was incredibly nice and attentive (so it made up for the rude welcome and wait). The food was very good. We even ordered a second order of the appetizer of Oysters. We had lobster scampi (yum!) and a double order of steamers (yum!). We really ejoyed the unique dessert of the Indian Pudding -- an unexpected delight."
