Seasonal & Delicious.<br /><br />With Paul Martin's American Grill, Brian Bennett and restaurateur Paul Fleming have realized a long-nurtured dream to create the restaurant "we've always wished was in our neighborhood." <br /><br />At the heart of all great food is fresh, local, peak of the season ingredients. Paul Martin's aims to serve diners the best ingredients with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced produce, the best of both wild and farmed fish, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors. The deep California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin's American Grill.

Open since 2001, La Lanterna is a family-owned business with Ramon Lopez as Executive Chef and Jennifer Villa-McGuffin service as manager. Prior to opening, Ramon and Jennifer were employed at various fine dining restaurants in the San Francisco Peninsula. With his own signature style, Chef Ramon has received numerous accolades and is honored to serve you at La Lanterna.

"We always enjoy this restaurant. The food is consistently good; the specials are always great, too. The staff is friendly and helpful. Tonight we had the special anti pasti plate, and as an entrée, the calamari dore and special swordfish. All were delicious and good portions."

"This was my first time for dinner; I'd eaten lunch several times in S.F.. Menu was the same, but, interesting specials. Great rice bowl and fish tacos. Fish and chips were very good as were the fries, just a wee bit too salty. Good time, good dinner, but very noisy."

"My husband and I always enjoy dining here. We enjoyed the special soft shell crab appetizer and arancini. We had two pasta dishes, a baked rigatoni and a fettuccine pasta with mushroom and ramps. The rigatoni was very good, but the fettuccine was overcooked and a little soupy. It might have been an off night. The service was good and we enjoyed the wine recommended by our server. We will return because we enjoy their ever changing menu."

"As always, we enjoyed our dinner. This is a wonderful restaurant with great food and good service, although service can be slow at times. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. I look forward to their specials, tonight I had swordfish with a delicious sauce, light and airy mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach. My husband enjoyed the calamari steak, one of his favorites, here."

"I had seen this restaurant when it opened last year and had wanted to try it for some time. My friend and I had a great lunch. The table I requested wasn't ready; we were directed to the bar where we could order a starter or lunch, and then move to a table when available. There was a slight mix up and our complete lunch was brought to the bar. We were enjoying talking to the server behind the counter and were very comfortable eating there, so we decided not to move when our table was available. We split our entire meal; spring rolls, the dino kale salad, and crab and lobster sandwich. The portions were generous and very tasty."
