Waterfront location to open soon!! - 'Too much is so good, you can't stop eating it. The tandoor-baked breads are not mere swabs for sauce but could be eaten, and enjoyed, on their own; the naan with cilantro and rock salt is terrific, as is the kulcha richly stuffed with minced lamb. Masala Art offers combinations you don't see often around here, but even its more familiar dishes can be revelations. Consider its samosas. They're flakier than a lot of the competition, and their filling of peas, potatoes and sweet raisins tastes fresher, too. A burst of cardamom in every bite helps. In the same vein, soft logs of minced lamb pulse with heat from jalapeno peppers, a shock offset with breezy mint. Pureed spinach is a vibrant green, flecked with corn and rich with garlic...' - WashingtonPost.com, B-Wisconsin Avenue, NW location.

"I was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the new Masala Art in Waterfront. It is a beautiful space with lots of nice accents. The menu is very comparable to the Tenleytown location and the food was excellent. The service after the meal (getting the check, giving our credit card to the waiter, getting the card back) was very slow. Hopefully that will improve as they have only been open a few days. I will definitely go back!"

All menu items at Lavagna are prepared from scratch, including our pasta. The menu changes weekly as well as seasonally so it can feature only the freshest local ingredients. Lavagna is expanding the house-made charcuterie program and is adding a line of house-made local preserves, with offerings varying week to week. Lavagna also offers a variety of Italian wines, beers from around the world and distinctive craft cocktails.

Aqua 301 celebrates the culture and cuisine of Mexico taking contemporary Mexican cuisine and infusing it with modern flair. This is not Tex Mex! Chef Antonio Burrell tweaks traditional Mexican ingredients and flavor profiles through experimental ingredient combinations and serves it up waterside in Yards Park.

"I tried the baja fish tacos and pork belly tacos. They were super good. I will definitely be coming back for more, especially knowing that they are only $5 M-F during their happy hour."

"I thought the brunch menu was varied with several unique options. I was disappointed in the cappuccino, but other than that, enjoyed the food. Because the Hamilton is so huge, it was easy to get last-minute brunch reservations."

"I stopped by Founding Farmers on a Friday at 10 am for breakfast. We had to wait in the crowded entrance for 5-10 minutes, but were seated at a table on the almost empty second floor. My party was extremely disappointed in the service. Our waitress was very frazzled and inattentive. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. We had to repeatedly ask for more water and coffee. It took awhile for the waitress to run the credit card. I usually love Founding Farmers but this was definitely an off day."

Where southeastern Europe meets South East D.C.

Our aim is to put together the finest products of the New World and Old World for your dining pleasure. Perennially on the edge of great empires, the Balkans owes much of its food culture to its history, geography, and climate. The term Balkan is generally believed to come from the Turkish word meaning: “a chain of wooded mountains.” With a desire to introduce Washington, D.C. to cutting edge Balkan cuisine, proprietor Ivan Iricanin has created a dining space that will delight and indulge the senses. Primarily featuring “small plates,” Ambar will also offer wines and spirits from the Balkans not often experienced by the American diner.
