Red Ginger is more than just a place to eat. It is an elevated entertainment experience! There is energy in Red Ginger’s dining room unlike any other location in Northern Michigan. The lively design and metropolitan atmosphere will transport you. Our exceptionally talented and welcoming staff will remind you that you are as close to home as you will ever be.

"After being told that northern Michigan doesn't have good places for Asian food, we discovered Red Ginger! The ambiance and decor were great, a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The menu was varied and extensive, too much to take in on one visit ... plus the wine list was impressive. After selecting a great bottle of wine, we decided on our usual Asian experience, sashimi and rolls. A great meal - the sashimi was fresh and tender, the rolls varied and more than just a lot of rice, although we have experienced (both in Japan and the US) rolls that are more flavorful. We will be back to try some of the other offerings on the menu, especially the thai green chicken curry!"

Firefly Grill is a modern roadhouse restaurant located on the shores of Kristie Lake. Chef Niall Campbell and his wife Kristie own and operate this oasis of American fresh cuisine in the heart of the Midwest.
Firefly's menu changes daily and boasts fresh seafood, oak fired steaks and brick oven pizzas. Firefly uses local ingredients whenever possible and fresh herbs and vegetables straight from their very own garden!

"We were in town for just one night ... after reading the reviews decided we had to try Firefly! It was dark and raining hard, so we can't speak for the views and outside dining ... but the food and service were perfect. A great wine list, reasonably priced. My wife had the salad and I tried the fried green tomatoes and corn, which was excellent. We both decided on the halibut entree, a great choice. Perfectly prepared, not undercooked or too dry, and served with exquisite ravioli ... a meal that would compare favorably to one at some of the finer big city restaurants. We even shared a dessert, the brownie with accompaniments added table side. A huge thanks for a great meal!"

Savannah Grille is the culmination of years of observation, research, and the desire to create. Every season, Chef Robert, sets out to find as many local ingredients, farmers, and growers to help him form each menu.

Along the way, the Savannah Grille family has developed into a place full of passionate and devoted people. Whether it’s the crew in the kitchen, friendly service staff, or the many small purveyors, everyone is focused on delivering the best possible dining experience.

An always evolving and creative environment, inspiration is derived from our surroundings: on top of the beginning of the Ozark Mountains and overlooking stunning views of The Lake.

We are blessed with an amazing opportunity to embrace our surroundings and convey our story of these ingredients to our guests. We strive every day to do better than the next, cultivate one more relationship, shake one more hand, and satisfy one more guest.

"Wanted somewhere for dinner that was more than the average chain establishment. Savannah Grille has great views, although our table didn't give us much chance to enjoy them. We ordered a bottle of wine while we made our meal choices. The wine arrived, but the server broke the cork ... then left with the bottle, to return several minutes later with wine (our wine?) in two carafes, and served it into generic stemware! Rather than make an issue, I dismissed it as one of those things - although clearly not what you expect in a more upscale dining establishment. Our appetizer and salads were OK, but then our steaks arrived ... my wife's filet was OK, although a little dry, my ribeye was tough and sinewy. Overall, an only average experience."

"We wanted to try something different in Traverse City, decided on Bistro Foufou. A wonderful evening, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The ambiance is even like a French bistro, we have been to a number in Paris just like this - great! The wine list offerings were mainly French, but the selections were varied and moderately priced. Our server was helpful and engaging ... started with the escargot and green salad, then moved on to the trout and cod, both excellently prepared. We don't normally have dessert, but the flour less chocolate cake was just too much of a temptation!! A great evening, we will be back, plus possibly even try their Sunday brunch."

"We were staying in the Empire, MI area and Funistrada came up during a review of where to eat on a Sunday evening. Tucked away in the small village of Glen Arbor, you could almost miss it, but we're glad we gave it a try, it was just a short drive away and the experience was great. It was busy, surprising for a Sunday evening post season. We were greeted warmly, they have a very varied wine list and their menu offerings made for a difficult selection ... we wanted to try them all. We settled for the duck and veal, both were excellently prepared. The ambiance was excellent ... a wonderful dining experience in a small, local restaurant ... bravo!"

"Went to Sagamore's based on several review sites, which, on balance, suggested it would be a good place for dinner. Our expectations were not sky high, but we left underwhelmed.
A great view, the hostess sat us at a table where we could see both the bay and the sunset. A good and varied wine list. However, our $100 bottle of wine was served in entirely inappropriate glasses ... we don't expect Riedels, but these were the cheapest stem glasses I can imagine. We were never offered or served any bread. Our entrees were only average, my lamb was prepared just right, but my wife's haddock was dry and tasteless. Service was OK, but we felt rushed, no time between courses ... we were in and out within an hour.
In summary - only average."

Chandler’s opened it’s doors in December of 1999 behind the historical Symons General Store building. It’s a cozy place with only 50 seats in the main dining room & 10 seats at the bar. When real estate is too tough to find - it’s standing room only! For a change of scenery, guests can enjoy dining in the wine cellar where they are surrounded by the 4,000 bottle collection that serves both the restaurant and Symons General Store. In the warmer months, guests can choose to dine outside, on Chandler’s brick courtyard.

"Revisited Chandler's ... hoping for the same experience as our first visit, we were not disappointed.
Everything, from the greeting at the front desk to the time we departed, was perfect. A great wine list, the staff seem to know their wines and had a good recommendation. The food was outstanding ... we had whitefish and duck, both perfectly prepared. While initially very busy, the staff were attentive and engaging. On our first visit, the small dining area and the proximity of the cooking area made for a haze from the food being prepared on the grill ... much less an issue this time, almost not noticeable.
A great out of the way, cosy establishment ... we'll be back. Thanks!!"

"Visited with some friends, who had not previously been to Red Stag. We were all impressed ... great service, great food, wonderful ambiance. We all tried steaks, all perfectly prepared. The wine list features something for every palate and wallet. The staff are attentive yet not overbearing.
Nothing else I can add, a great establishment ... consistently perfect every time we visit. Thanks!!"

Ruth's Chris Steak House is internationally acclaimed as "The Home of Serious Steaks." The menu features USDA Prime Midwestern beef - aged to perfection, broiled at 1800 degrees and served the signature Ruth's Chris way ... SIZZLING ... so your steak stays hot, juicy and delicious from the first to the very last bite. Mouthwatering fresh seafood, prime veal and lamb, and stuffed chicken are equally as outstanding. Enjoy New Orleans inspired appetizers like Barbecued Shrimp and Mushrooms Stuffed with Crabmeat. Salads, vegetables and potatoes are generous enough to share. Top it all off with a delectable Ruth's Chris dessert: Warm Apple Crumb Tart, Chocolate Sin Cake, classic Crème Brûleé and more. And, to complement your dining experience, Ruth's Chris wine list boasts over 175 select vintages. This is one big, thick, juicy experience that is sure to be memorable!

"We have dined at a number of Ruth's Chris establishments, not just in the US, but worldwide. On this occasion, rather than go to one of our favorites, we decided to try the Greenville location.
On the plus side: the usual great service and extensive wine list. Not so good: our steaks were good, but not the outstanding, tender cuts you expect from Ruth's Chris, plus the ambiance was blah. The decor was just a series of tables in a very bland looking room, more like a mid-range hotel breakfast area than an upscale steak establishment.
Overall, it was just about average, nothing special at all. We'll still patronize Ruth's Chris, but some of their other locations"

Sometimes the magic of sharing a table with friends over fabulous food and wonderful wine can be elevated by a place. Sitting at the foot of an unspoiled box canyon in the Sapphire Valley, Canyon Kitchen has that impact. Chef John Fleer, a three time James Beard nominee for Best Chef Southeast, strikes an informal, nostalgic and often playful chord through the history of Southern Appalachia and the broader South. Local produce and organic selections from our own community gardens and the surrounding area are at the foundation of the food. The fixed price menu is enhanced by a list of wines produced using only sustainably raised grapes.
