"food was delicious-b/w the 4 of us we had 4 apps spinach and pear salad, octopus,&something with chorizo which were all excellent.main courses were equally as delicious-salmon,cod,chicken & another fish. my issue was with the service which i thought had an attitude: 1st the hostess tried to seat us twice in the smaller room next to 2 huge parties when there were plenty of tables for 4 in the other room.the waiter overfilled our wine glasses & then asked "do we want another bottle?" this is a lousy trick.then, because it was passover (a jewish holiday observed by many in the new york area)I couldn't eat barley that was served with my dinner.2 sub something else i would have to pay a surcharge, although it was 4 relig reasons. also v. noisy"

Celebrating its 108th Year, Barbetta is the oldest restaurant in New York still owned by its founding family. Barbetta is also New York's oldest Italian restaurant and the oldest restaurant in the Theater District. This three-fold distinction has earned it landmark status by the Locali Storici d'Italia. In a glittering interior decorated with 18th century Italian antiques Barbetta serves the cuisine of Piemonte, Italy's northwestern most region. In summer, its exuberantly verdant garden with century-old trees and scented with the blooms of wisteria, oleander, jasmine and gardenia make it a most sought-after site for al fresco dining. <br />

"first time here although we go to theater all the time- not sure why we haven't tried it before. excellent food and service- good price with the 20% discount off the price fix. got us in and out in time for theater without an issue. only question is- is the green tea decaffeinated? waiter said "no" although maitre d said "yes." should have decaf tea- regular decaf and herbal in this type of restaurant. what is the big deal to carry extra tea bags?
also very accommodating for passover which we appreciated.

Kellari Taverna is located in the heart of New York City, three blocks from Grand Central Station, Times Square and the Theater District. The dining room decor evokes a subterranean wine cellar designed with contemporary elegance. Kellari features the traditional Greek taverna specialties, such as grilled whole fish, prime chops and meats, and an eclectic selection of contemporary Hellenic savory appetizers ("mezedes") created by our Corporate Executive Chef, Gregory Zapantis. Our menu also features a variety of Greek cheeses, baked or flamed 'Saganaki' style, as well as a selection of Raw and Marinated seafood. The Kellari dessert menu includes innovative specialties such mastiha pudding and warm sokolata with halva ice cream as as well as traditional favorites such as Baklava and Galaktoboureko. Kellari Taverna offers an extensive international wine list featuring the largest selection of Greek wines available in any U.S. restaurant. About 24 wines are available by-the-glass.

Erminia, opened in 1982, is New York City’s most romantic restaurant. Obtaining some of the Zagat Survey’s most highly rated scores for food, service and décor each year, the Roman influenced Italian food is second to none on the Upper East Side. Forbes Magazine twice selected Erminia as its number one Top Pick for food. Most diners agree that the original concoctions prepared here will win the hearts of all those who come to experience the fare. The Swiss Alps cabin-like atmosphere accents the rustic feel at Erminia.
