Belga cafe is a great place to eat typical Belgian cuisine. Combining an intriguing atmosphere with excellent, light and healthy interesting food. Belga Cafe is a little bit of Brussels on the Hill, with an open kitchen and a sidewalk cafe.

"We went back to Belga Cafe with visiting friends from Cambridge, MA and were impressed by how much the food, already very good, had improved since our last visit. We ordered a wide range of dishes, including smoked duck, sea bass, short ribs, and the ever-popular mussels, and nobody was disappointed. The nebbiolo wine was a tad pricey but worth it. And the pear vodka martini -- fabulous! Two stars as the designated price seems over-optimistic: 3 is more like it, at least if you're going to drink wine.
We will certainly return to Belga for future festivities.

Osteria Morini pays homage to the casual and rustic cuisine and ambiance of the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Osteria Morini is a casual Italian restaurant from Chef Michael White. In Italian, “osteria” means a place where the owner “hosts” guests, and at Osteria Morini, Chef White continues this tradition of hospitality, transforming his first Washington, D.C. restaurant into an authentic, old-world osteria with soulful food from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy.

"Osteria Morini is a splendid addition to the DC food scene. Located on Water Street not far from the ballpark, it permits diners to gaze on the Potomac while consuming robust, unusually flavorsome Italian cuisine. Even though the restaurant was quite full, the maitre d' kindly provided our party of 4 with a wheelchair-accessible, window-view table. The dishes (our choices ranged from pasta to short ribs to seafood) were fresh and original -- at the very top of the DC Italian food chain. The service was friendly and efficient. Our only complaint (a relatively minor one) was the high-priced wine list, which offered many decent choices, but very little at the low end of the scale. We will certainly return in any case."

"Four of us, older and younger, carnivores and vegetarians, all had a fabulous meal at Sugarbeet. Exceptionally high quality food, creatively prepared but not fussy. Superb service, friendly and knowledgeable. This restaurant ranks with the best anywhere. I'm going back the next chance I get!"

Bistro Italiano is a gem of a restaurant hidden among all of the row houses in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. However, an unassuming facade should not deter anyone from visiting this restaurant. There are only a dozen or so tables in this small Italian bistro, but the ambiance is lively and welcoming. Bistro Italiano offers classic dishes such as lasagna, tortellini, fettuccine and chicken parmesan. The restaurant is frequented by neighborhood residents but is only blocks from Union Station and right off Massachusetts Avenue on D Street.

"Bistro Italiano is one if our favorite Capitol Hill eateries. Good food, very good service, and a warm, homey ambiance. We liked it even before they put white tablecloths on the tables! Try the chicken or veal castellana. And the house wine us a fine value."

"Physically, Boundary Road looks like most of the other newer restaurants on Capitol Hill -- "railroad flat" design, stripped-down furnishings, bar running the length of the room, wood accoutrements, etc. But there is nothing ordinary about the food, which is imaginative without being fey, sized just right, and absolutely delicious. I had the "Hunter's Plate" -- duck leg confit with sausage -- and my wife ate the risotto with faro: both deeply satisfying dishes. The service, warm and efficient, was just right. What more can I say? If I owned the place, I'd add a little color to the decor and put in a fireplace -- but this would just be icing the cake. We will be back!"

"Oyamel is a terrific restaurant -- unusually tasty, well-prepared food, calm and friendly service, and a fine ambience. The only thing a wee bit deceptive about the place is its two-dollar-sign expense rating. Most of the tapas-style dishes range from $7 to $12, and a diner with an average healthy appetite will require three of them. Add in appetizers, drinks, dessert, and tip, and you're talking three dollar signs for sure! The experience is well worth the money -- I'll look forward to going back -- but let's be honest about the cost."
