Iluvfood's Reviews

In the heart of downtown New Haven, Connecticut, Olea offers an innovative interpretation of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine. Chef Manuel Romero and his team explore these flavors in their food, wine, and cocktails, locally sourcing many products and importing specialty items from the Mediterranean region. The restaurant takes its name from a genus of about forty species, including the olive, in the family Oleaceae, native to temperate and tropical regions of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australasia.

"Ate off regular and restaurant week menu- restaurant week menu was a joke- this should be the time to show off your dishes not put whatever is cheapest as options. Rice with mushrooms- was it supposed to be risotto? It was watery rice only saved by the good flavor of the mushrooms. Soup was bland. Chicken thigh tagine was more like thin chicken breasts on some coucous. Wine pairings were very shallow pours. Don't understand the hype about the food for this place, and for the prices they're charging they need better trained wait staff. Only saving grace was the ambiance and groups seem to like t as most tables were five or more people."
