"Was looking for a last minute place near Grand Central, and this place had the second highest rating for the area for $$-- couldn't believe it, reviews looked authentic, thought I'd give it a try... and was pleasantly surprised! Excellent and friendly service, many menu options including gluten-sensitive, and tasty food. Went for dinner- after work bar scene was very loud, but everywhere in NYC is loud these days. Didn't leave with a horse voice trying to talk to my dinner companion though."

"The scallop soup was very good, as were the oysters; the crabcakes were also quite delicious. But in general the food was Eh. Had high hopes, don't know if it's because we ordered the wrong things, but we had a much better crab salad with the same ingredients at Poppy. The portions were also much smaller than anticipated for the price and any other of the tom douglas restaurants we ate at (lola, palace kitchen). Overall we enjoyed our dining experience and would recommend, but do your research for what to order before going."

This neighborhood restaurant atop Queen Anne is the most intimate of those in the Ethan Stowell family. As a nod to the restaurant’s literary namesake, Chef Michael Gifford repeatedly impresses by doing so much from this tiny kitchen. The continually changing, Italian-inspired menu focuses on smaller plates and fresh, daily-made pastas, typically enjoyed family style in the cozy, wood-clad dining room. Stop by the Queen Anne Farmer's Market before dinner, and you might see Chef Gifford gathering ingredients for that night's menu. Have dinner at the bar and sip Prosecco while watching the kitchen create.

"The Valentine's day prix fixe menu was spectacular. The portions were extremely generous- I don't know which was my favorite dish, but the short rib was unlike any meat I have eaten or will eat. Just amazing from start to end. The service was also outstanding. Would make a reservation and then book a trip to Seattle."

In a warm, modern dining room overlooking the lively streetscape of North Capitol Hill, Poppy presents James Beard award winning Chef Jerry Traunfeld’s style of Northwest cooking. Inspired by the thali, a tray of many small dishes served all at once to each guest, Poppy's menu highlights the best of local seasonal ingredients, spices, and fresh herbs from its own back garden, and includes many options for vegetarians.

"Agh, wish Poppy was in the city I live in. Our meals were outstanding-- the cod and farro/mushroom thali's. Everything that was served with it were out of this world- creative, memorable, fun. We were also amazed at how filling everything was- it was so good we had to take a break because we wanted to finish everything on our plates. We went to many restaurants on this trip to Seattle, and Poppy was the best."

Chef Liam Spence presents rustic Mediterranean cuisine at Lola, another in the Tom Douglas family of exceptional downtown restaurants. Don’t miss our ouzo sizzling kebabs, steaming savory tagines or our grilled to order pita bread, brought to us fresh from our own Dahlia bread bakery right across the street, twice daily. Located in the heart of the bustling Belltown neighborhood, Lola offers the perfect urban dining experience in it’s upbeat environment, just minutes from downtown shopping and theatre to the south and great music and night life to the north on fourth avenue. We’re committed to a green community, composting 75% of waste and supporting our local growers.

"The dips/spreads and manti were delicious! Also as we don't eat bread and they were kind to serve the spreads with veggies (grape tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, $2 extra charge). We had the lamb (in mint/lemon jus) as main dish, which was delicious, but I wish they told encouraged us to halve the portion as we were only a party of two-- they let us know about halving the portion for the side dishes (the yams and chickpea fries (that were not on the menu). That said though, the portions are generous. Was visiting Seattle and would go back on another visit."

Amada is not a typical, trendy tapas restaurant. It is something else entirely. Festive settings, service and menus are perfect for intimate dinners with friends, special occasions and holidays, corporate meetings and staff parties. Events can be booked throughout the restaurant and in our private dining rooms seven days a week. "Went back to Amada during a visit to Philly- ambiance and service as we remember, food was okay-- I think the problem is that tapas style menus are really not suitable for big groups (party of 6; learned our lesson). Wouldn't go back with a group that big. The iberico pluma was out of this world, highly recommend."
