The Walrus Oyster & Ale House is now open at National Harbor, MD. Officially named The Walrus Oyster & Ale House inspired by the Lewis Carroll poem The Walrus and The Carpenter, the restaurant offers local, moderately priced, eastern shore style seafood and a vibrant Shucking Bar. Count on The Walrus “fun” factor to complement the food with an over-sized, industrial strength bar featuring cocktails designed by Kris Carr, 14 tap beers, tap wines and colorful, massive frozen drinks for those warm, sunny days. The restaurant boasts a 50-seat deck with beautiful water views of the Potomac and nearby Old Town Alexandria. The restaurant is now open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Brunch served Sunday from 10am - 3pm. Happy Hour offered Monday through Friday from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.

"I went on a Saturday evening with a 5:45pm reservation. First issue was the totally aloof host at the entrance; be aware as a single diner you will be unceremoniously ushered to a 2-top in the bar area whether you want to sit near the already inebriated oyster hoarders or not. Second issue, the food; Clams Casino appetizer was overly breaded, baked to a desert dryness and devoid of any real flavor (where was the bacon?). I went for a second visit to WOAH specifically for the Scallop Basket this time; the portion was small and the breading fell off the scallop at the slightest touch of my fork. It took almost 10 minutes to get some ketchup for my fries which brings me to third issue, service. In standard form, the server, Keith, was initially enthusiastic and took my order, however, I never really saw him after that (hence the 10 minute wait for ketchup which was finally delivered by the food runner.) Finally was able to flag him down to get my check; I would have yelled out his name but would have been drowned out by the stadium level volume in this restaurant."
