"My husband and I came here at our concierge's recommendation. We're from DC, where our omakase options are limited (but we frequently visit my family in SF and have sushi there). Never have I had sushi as fresh as Kona Kai. The omakase experience was wonderful. Our servers would explain each dish and advise on how to eat it, and were very friendly. And the food - holy moly, that was the freshest, most amazing sushi I've ever had. The toro melted in our mouths. The Wagyu beef sushi was decadent. Our scallops were flown in from Hokkaido that morning, but didn't show any sign of weariness. They also had some Japanese beers that we hadn't had before, so it was fun trying those.
Tl;dr: If you're a sushi fan, definitely hit up Kona Kai."

"We ate here on the first night of our honeymoon. The view was gorgeous, we watched the sun set while sipping on mixed drinks (that were delicious!). We had the Jambi ribs appetizer, which was really good. My husband had the ahi entrée, which was amazing. It melted in your mouth. My local spiced fish was also incredible.
The entrees were about $25-30 each, which is pretty standard in Maui (and not a shock to us; we're from DC and used to those prices). It's honestly worth it, and I definitely recommend Koa's."
