Chef Isabella serves seasonal, artisanal pizzas and small plates inspired by the food he grew up eating in New Jersey prepared by his Italian-American grandmother. With heavy influence from Chef Isabella’s Mediterranean and Latin culinary training, Graffiato is anything but a traditional Italian eatery. Roasted potato gnocchi with pork ragu, chicken thighs with pepperoni sauce, charred octopus with tomato mostarda and mint, and hanger steak with pancetta and wild mushrooms are a few of the signature wood oven roasted dishes. Broccolini with red pepper relish and smoked beets with sheep’s milk ricotta are popular first plates. When the kitchen closes, the oven will stay fired to feed Washingtonians looking for a late-night bite.

"The eggplant mezzaluna was very good as was the pasta special with spinach and shrimp. Both were on the small side, especially the pasta, and so for a meal a salad or shared appetizer would have been good. The desert was a little taste of 3 or 4 different things, but the portions were so small it was hard to really "taste" anything. I would recommend getting a full size single dessert instead."

"The brunch menu is quite good. Would have loved to have had time to linger and try the fixed-prixe menu, but we were heading to a game at the Verizon Center and time did not permit. Breakfast Flatbread was particularly good. Loved the "hotcakes" - crisp outside with a slightly soft creamy inside. Toppings were great, but a little skimpy in serving size. Would not do the Berries Bubbly again as it was a tad on the cloyingly sweet side, but companion loved his Bloody Mary and there were other interesting looking drink choices to sample next time."

This grand Victorian saloon is on two levels, with four distinctive bars, including an oyster bar, and six dining rooms. Open for dinner til late in the evening, it is the perfect spot before or after a Verizon Center event, movie or the theatre, and is open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch.

"Clydes is a great choice for a before game bite. Yes, there are lots of good restaurants in Penn Quarter, but this is one of the closest to the Verizon Center Doors, its food is consistently good, prices are moderate, table spacing is such that even when crowded you can carry on conversations with your dining companions, and service is attentive and quick."

Enjoy a fantastic culinary experience and unequalled skyline views through two-story windows high above the Potomac River. The contemporary interior features chrome, glass, suede, and wood with accents of granite. Check out the critically-acclaimed Sunday Kitchen Buffet Brunch. The Roof Terrace Restaurant & Bar is located on the Roof Terrace level of the Kennedy Center above the Hall of Nations.

"Complaints - seating us in a totally empty, non-descript area when the restaurant was 95% empty and we had a reservation. Asked to move closer to the windows and the hostess did have to talk to the manager, but we were accomodated. BUT, the food was good, though not spectacular and portions are relatively small. Still it is a good choice on a show night, though you pay for the convenience through prices slightly higher than normal for comparable food and portions."

"Service was a little slow to start with getting the drinks to the table, but then improved. Food was good although it seems like some of the small plates were a little too small for sharing (e.g., the croquettes). Fried eggplant was very good - more like eggplant chips with very little batter and a great plate for sharing with the table."

Amidst the emerging culinary epicenter of diverse restaurants in the historic Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, DC, Penn Commons is a rough-hewn yet chic American tavern on 6th & H Streets.

To craft its menu of food and drinks united by one common philosophy - American sensibility joined with American seasonality - Chef Jeff Tunks drew on his first name partnerships with the best local farmers and artisanal purveyors...or he just makes it himself.

Burnished copper lighting, leather sling chairs and salvaged woods provide a warm footing for this showcase of American tavern food at its best.

"Went tothis restaurant before a Verizon Center game. It was quite crowded, lively and noisy in the bar area. Booths and table area less so, making conversation easier (still this is not the place for a "quiet" dinner). We both ordered the Big Daddy burger, one medium and one very rare. They both came out medium, but when we expressed concern to the kitchen server who brought them out he waited till the rare one was cut into and then immediately offered to take it and bring one at the right temp. While waiting the short time for a new burger to arrive, no less than 3 of the staff came over and apologized. The new burger was actually one of the best burgers I've had in a DC restaurant - and it was the perfect "very rare" temperature. After the burger arrived, all 3 of the staff who came over to apologize, came over to make sure it was good this time. From start to finish the staff was attentive, the food was served quickly (good for the before game crowd), and it was good."

"A friend and I tried the restaurant for lunch recently and were very pleased with our decision to do so. The menu is reasonably priced, has a good array of selections and the food was quite good. Service was very attentive as well."
