IMAR's Reviews

Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich's flagship restaurant, located on Waverly Place in Greenwich Village, opened to great acclaim in 1998 and is as bustling and popular as ever. It offers three-star dining that redefines and reinvents the principles of Italian cuisine for 21st century America. An epic, landmark wine list, an exciting, quintessentially New York dining room and expert, attentive and cordial service make a table at Babbo one of New York’s prized possessions.

"Nice spot, really had high expectations as it is difficult to get a reservation. Food was good but "not over the top" and skimpy portions. Servers were nice but constantly confused as to who order what. I was surprised that although I told the reservation desk that we had guests with food allergies that they did not recall this until we reminded them before we ordered. Also, the matrie de and staff at the front of restaurant appeared were somewhat pretentious. Wouldn't seat 4 of us until the 5th person arrived; then we had a shopping bag at our our table no where near any of the other tables, and they asked us to check it which we refused to do. Overall not likely to return."

Authentic Italian, home-style recipes with a northern accent, served in an inviting garden setting, or in the glittering main room, create an unforgettable evening of fine dining and continental ambiance.

"Food was acceptable, ambience was nice as its an indoor/outdoor type of patio. Nothing spectacular though."

***** SEAFOOD GREEK RESTAURANT ***** Located in the Heart of Midtown, steps away from Grand Central Terminal. Ammos provides upscale, authentic cuisine from various regions of Greece. The menu features a wide array of mezedes and pristinely fresh seafood as well as whole grilled fish. Ammos is the Greek word for "sand" and the restaurant’s airy, open design, light woods and weathered stones conjure the sun-drenched atmosphere of the Greek islands.

"Took colleague out to lunch who had never dined here before. Waiter seemed very distracted, was sort of listening to our order while talking to bus boy. Then he asked my colleague what temperature he liked his chicken??? and I responded "cooked". Then we were delivered the wrong order. Otherwise, it was OK, food was OK as well, I order an octupus salad with minimal octupus present. Not sure if i'll return."

Café Centro is a bustling midtown brasserie with a stylish look that echoes the glamour of Paris in the 1930's. Guests can watch our chef as he prepares French-inspired cuisine with Mediterranean accents and sear top quality steaks. Pastry chef Ken Larsen's sumptuous desserts are not to be missed. The well priced wine list has received numerous Wine Spectator awards and has been voted "Best Beaujolais Bistro". Regular wine dinners are well attended. The attached Beer Bar is a great place for New York’s best burger, a casual lunch or to unwind over craft beers and cocktails.
