"I needed to meet with clients during a convention at the hotel and this was the only logical place to do it on a rainy day. I had red bad reviews so expectations were low. I had the grilled tuna salad. The tuna was perfectly cooked (almost rare) and salad was exceptionally good. Others had club and said it was good. Service was good considering that they appeared to be understaffed having a large convention in the hotel."

We source the finest, sustainable & local ingredients to create handcrafted food & beverages.

Our setting is unmatched and the best casual, neighborhood dining in the West End. The bar is ornately decorated with massive mirrors, large columns and a multitude of glowing candles. These, along with the open kitchen where flames leap from the grill, create a warmth and intimacy in a casual atmosphere.

"I love Grillfish, but usually only go their when I have friends from out of town staying in that area. Each time is a treat and this time I ram going to grab my Penn Quarter neighbors and head that way.
The monk fish and mahi-mahi with different preparations were both great as was the calamari appetizer followed by the mango creme brulee. Bobby, our waiter was very thorough in going over the menu and making suggestions. We followed most and were delighted. He was great --- just the right combination of friendliness and not interfering with our conversation.
Highly recommend Grillfish. I wish you would open in Penn Quarter ---- I would be a regular."

Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef José Andrés. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere.

Affectionately called the Embassy of Latin America in Washington, D.C., Mío has captured the hearts and palates of D.C.’s most influential Latin Americans and Washingtonians with a convivial table and “Cocina Abierta” (open kitchen) culture. Under the management and ownership of long time D.C. restaurateur, Manuel Iguina, and under Chef Giovanna Huyke's seasoned expertise, Mío presents daily a unique menu from Latin America’s most influential cuisine capitals - a menu sophisticated in flavor yet true to its origins. In our kitchen all are welcome, the summers on the beach in the Caribbean, a Sunday parillada, the corner taquería, cevichería, lechonera and the arepera, all in one place. Just south of Thomas Circle, Mío also features modern American selections in a convivial atmosphere where customers are treated with Latin hospitality. Don't miss "Puerto Rico Fridays" - with a genuine roasted lechón and expanded Puerto Rican menu.

¡La Cocina esta Abierta!

"Nice place and I will give it another try, but there were some problems. Our reservation was at 2 on Sunday ---- didn't know that they quit serving at 2:30. We ordered fried plankton and they were inedible. I think the dish had been under a heat lamp and the fritters were edible, but overcooked. the main dishes Rock Fish and Salmon were quite good. The coconut brulee was also over cooked and I only ate 2 bites. When we mentioned the problems with the food, there was no offer to take it off the bill.
I know people who love Mio and I will give it another try."

There is no denying Panache's elegance. The walls are done in a soft shade of wheat, the bar is long and sleek and bouquets of flowers dot the dining room. The dining room chairs are bright yellow, 1950s style lounge artwork hangs on the walls and some weekend nights, the line to get in stretches down the block. It's a jolt of energy across the street from the quiet Mayflower Hotel. Panache serves a range of small plates that make up a gustatory tour of Europe and beyond. Diners can also order one of the larger plates, which include seared Ahi Tuna with a Mango Salsa and Rack of Lamb with Pommery Mustard and Whipped Potatoes. A Three course menu is offered nightly for $35. Additional features are added every week for lunch.

"I have had several good meals at Panache, but this was the best. None of the others in my group had been there, but I'm sure they will return. The service was just perfect --- helpful, but not intrusive. Parking is easy in the garage next door or often street parking is available too."

Jeffrey and Sallie Buben's Woodward Table, housed in the historic Woodward Building is a concept that exudes a timeless feel with neighborhood charm. Located just one block from The White House, Woodward presents a "table" of dining possibilities with two eateries...the main restaurant with its creative and diverse American menu and Woodward Takeout Food, a sprite artisanal alternative for breakfast and lunch. The soul of Woodward Table's cooking involves creating seasonal iconic American dishes, a chef's contemporary approach and a regional repertoire of ingredients. Woodward Takeout Food, aka WTF, adjacent to the restaurant, creates a quick serve American breakfast or lunch for the busy Washingtonian, available to eat in or take out. Woodward Takeout Food is like being in a good cook's kitchen...a venue of sights and sounds with the bakery of the entire restaurant located at one end. Smell the fresh baked bread and other concoctions as you place your ord

The closest restaurant to the Capitol building,United States Senate and Union Station, The Monocle is not only known as a Washington institution, but also for its fine American cuisine. You can always count on being served great crab-cakes, grilled fresh fish, steaks and chops, while enjoying the powerful political scenery. The private room upstairs is a Washington classic for private parties and political fundraisers. More than 6 please call 202-546-4488 since NOT accepted by open table reservations.

Ardeo+Bardeo, located in the historic district of Cleveland Park -- four miles from the White House -- is a neighborhood favorite serving modern American cuisine. The restaurant underwent a major renovation in November 2010 to enhance the modern bistro and wine bar, uniting the two restaurants with a 24-seat island bar. Executive Chef Nate Garyantes has crafted a menu which features cured meats, soups and salads, savory snacks, seasonal vegetables dishes and brick oven baked flatbreads. Ardeo+Bardeo has become a virtual “Who’s Who” of Washington. Those who frequent include Madeleine Albright, Jim Lehrer, Alan Greenspan and the former first family, the Clintons.

"I live in the Penn Quarter where the Knightsbridge group has several great restaurants that I visit frequently. Ardeo + Bardeo lived up to the quality of the others. I was entertaining a group staying in a hotel nearby so it was perfect. Of the 5 of us everyone was very happy with their selections except my Artic Char was just so-so. The trout, shrimp and grits, mussels and Brussels sprouts, and salads were all big hits. It was easy for the group to talk without having to fight with music or others seated nearby. You can count on Ashok Bajaj's restaurants!"

A classic American gathering place, the District Chophouse & Brewery is conveniently located 1/2 block South of The Verizon Center. We pride ourselves in serving the city's finest handcrafted beers and succulent steaks, mouthwatering chops, tasty seafood, and over-sized salads. Once you've eaten here, you'll agree the 'DC' stands for District Chophouse.
