Firelake Grill, a contemporary American restaurant by Fired Up Grills Restaurant Group, offers guests a comfortable, upper casual dining experience in the heart of Tenleytown. Our menu features unique, classic American dishes that are prepared fresh daily. It offers a wide selection of the highest possible quality items including prime rib of beef, steaks, fresh seafood, poultry and entrée salads. Most of our handcrafted cuisine at Firelake is prepared using a live hickory wood grill. At Firelake guests are sure to have an enjoyable, memorable and warm dining experience over-and-over again. Our guests are welcome to dine on the outside patio, or in our dining area, that is elegantly decorated with original artwork.

"We go to this place at least once a week because it's in the neighborhood and walkable. It's also one of few decent places that don't involve a drive so we've rooted for the joint to be successful since it opened. The food is always terrific, the server turnover seems to be atrocious and we've had some struggles with the wait staff for sure. As much as we're there we should have Platinum status...but every time we walk in there it's like we have to introduce ourselves to the new staff.
The ambience and live music is always good too...and great place to wind down after a tough day with great food and good atmosphere."

"Place seemed to have about four entrances...but we had to walk two football fields to get to get to the entrance that actually had a different name over the door. The hostesses were almost rude...and the atmosphere inside the place reminded me of dining in Clifton's Cafeteria in Los Angeles. We were rushed by the wait staff...and the food while good, were portions more suitable for our cat. I know the place is in vogue, but after the novelty wears off I'm not sure why anyone would spend that kind of money to be treated poorly, eat small portions in an uninviting setting."

Vermilion features Chef William Morris' menu of Contemporary American cuisine. Complimenting Chef Morris' menu is Vermilion's wine list, named one of the top wine lists in the country by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine. Combining a charming location in Old town Alexandria with stylized design and atmosphere, Vermilion represents a bit of downtown sophistication: from the exposed brick in the upstairs dining room to the overstuffed pillows in the lounge downstairs, Vermilion holds something for all tastes.

"My wife had the Salmon and I had the Rockfish. She thought it was pretty good but mine was just OK. We had a pork cheek appetizer that was quite good. The setting was very nice...and the wine was quite good too. We also had a nutella cheesecake that was very tasty. The setting was very inviting but the service was C work at best. All and all it was enjoyable...more for the ambience than anything else."

"We had the fried chicken and as promised, it was outstanding. Had a side of Brussels sprouts and they were terrific too. Unfortunately the service was a bit poor...had to hunt down servers several times for another glass of wine. Though the food really was fabulous, the place seems a bit overpriced for its odd location and cafeteria-like atmosphere."
