JenTruffles's Reviews

The cuisine is a mix of comfort food, prime steakhouse staples, and seafood dishes with a fine flair. The juxtaposition of old design and modern food add to the ambiance that makes Hendrick’s Tavern a unique dining destination.

"Service was very good although our waiter did not offer a choice of sauces for our steaks and even though I asked for béarnaise, it did not come with my steak and I had to remind them...other than that, our waiter was terrific; the roasted bone marrow appetizer was out of this world: I was in cholesterol heaven! The Truffle fries were also excellent - the truffle flavor sure came out. My Colorado ribeye was good but not the best I've had. At the price charged, they could have added a few green beans or broccoli just to make the presentation more colorful and desirable. I did love the roasted head of garlic included on the plate. As it was, the plate looked very spare and incomplete with just the steak and head of garlic. The sticky bun dessert was very good and a great way to end the rich meal we had. They can add more caramel syrup, though. As is done in a lot of restaurants(including high end ones such as this)there is a need to update the wine list: their excellent wine list offered a 2012 Ritual(Paul Hobbs)Pinot Noir but we were offered a 2013 as they were out of the 2012. The 2013 turned out to be quite good but perhaps they should have done a price adjustment - I can just imagine what the 2012 would have been. We were seated next to a group of about 10 who turned out very loud and boisterous - thank goodness they came 45 minutes after we did. I think they should seat parties of 8 and more upstairs(or a separate room) so their noise does not interfere with other diners. The "fireworks" that came when a table is celebrating a special occasion is a very nice touch. The rest of our group seemed to enjoy their meal(my husband thought the mussels with coconut milk, etc. was excellent). Needless to say, I had to take an extra dose of Crestor that night, but it was all worth it."
