"Went for lunch and ordered tortilla soup because I hadn't had any in a while, and it was cold, and I really like tortilla soup. It was the strangest thing. It was cream based and actually very thick. Tortilla soup is not supposed to be like that. Good thing I added in chicken because other than the chicken and a few strips of tortillas, I'm not sure there was anything else in there. It was a bit spicy, but also way too salty. My friend had cheese enchiladas. I had a bite of hers, and it really wasn't anything to write home about. My first time there, and not sure I'd go back unless it wasn't lunchtime and I could have a margarita."

"Went for a lobster. For my birthday. I'm from New England and hadn't had lobster in a while. I got the medium size, and it was perfectly steamed; not overcooked, for which I was very grateful. I got two sides, French fries and a house salad. I would have loved to have gotten the salad before the rest. The salad had a lot of very large slices of carrot - too big really to eat politely. There were also WAY too many sunflower seeds in it. I found a couple around the house the next day. And that was basically it, with a creamy, tasteless dressing and too much of it. Please rethink your house salad, LSF; maybe a vinaigrette and a bit more diversity of ingredients. PEI oyster appetizer very good. Service okay, not great."

"Beer-braised clams were great and their broth excellent, as was the bread (could use a little more bread). Actually, all the small plates were good. It was a Sunday night so it was quiet. No complaints about the waiter, but all 5 small plates came out at once, and they (along with the burger our son ordered) came out SO FAST! The dinner was to celebrate an anniversary, but we ended up in and out of there so fast, it wasn't much of an event. It wasn't because they were trying to move tables, because the place was mostly empty and it wasn't late either. I had a cocktail before dinner, and had been planning to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, but I didn't have time to order it! I guess we have to go back when they're busy? That seems ironic."

Chef Mike Isabella opened Kapnos along the Fourteenth Street Corridor in July 2013. Isabella draws inspiration from Northern Greece to create a menu of spreads, breads, vegetables and other small plates, including his signature wood-grilled octopus. Two wood-fire grills with rotating spits and a large oven for stone-baked flat breads service the 160-seat restaurant. Guests enjoy carvings from whole animals that have been spit-roasted all day, including lamb, goat, duck, chicken, and suckling pig. Kapnos is open for dinner seven nights a week.

"Over the course of the evening the noise level got a bit more "energetic," but the service remained excellent throughout our dinner. We had a very good bottle of wine at a fairly reasonable price. The three spreads we had were SO delicious, as was the flatbread. We had the eggplant, the yellow lentil, and the feta spreads. Every course after that was beautiful, fresh, and unique. I'd go again to try some of the other dishes, and I don't say that often."
