Steghan's Reviews

Ardeo+Bardeo, located in the historic district of Cleveland Park -- four miles from the White House -- is a neighborhood favorite serving modern American cuisine. The restaurant underwent a major renovation in November 2010 to enhance the modern bistro and wine bar, uniting the two restaurants with a 24-seat island bar. Executive Chef Nate Garyantes has crafted a menu which features cured meats, soups and salads, savory snacks, seasonal vegetables dishes and brick oven baked flatbreads. Ardeo+Bardeo has become a virtual “Who’s Who” of Washington. Those who frequent include Madeleine Albright, Jim Lehrer, Alan Greenspan and the former first family, the Clintons.

"Parents enjoyed the burger and green garlic potato soup. Sister liked the artic char with salmon roe and foamed (mashed, but runny) potatoes. Kale pesto gnocchi was delicious-very light and not dense. Spicy salad was not too spicy, just really good flavor. Wine comes by the glass, half bottle, and bottle. Cocktail menu had an interesting selection. Dessert was peanut butter bar: chocolate cake, peanut butter whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and ganache. Not too peanut butter-y; very subtle flavor. As restaurant filled up it got noisier. Valet parking available and can be added to your bill. Overall, staff friendly and a nice, fairly laid back place to enjoy a meal."

Come see us at Ashten's Restaurant where the food is exceptional, the service will spoil you and the atmosphere is perfect for any occasion. From evening casual to that little black dress event, from a special celebration to a "get together" with friends..we think you'll find Ashten's "comfortably elegant". We want to give you global tastes with a "Southern Spin", we think that's what makes us unique.

"Ate birthday dinner on a Wednesday night at 8pm. As such the restaurant was very quiet. The server was very attentive, but not intrusive. They were aware of and reviewed dietary request made via OpenTable reservation. The chef was willing to make a vegetarian dish despite a vegetarian lasagna being on the menu and he created a delicious vegetable plate with cubed parsnips and sweet potatoes, twice fried sweet potato fritters, tempura broccoli, a slaw on top of everything, and a black pepper aioli. A tomato and roasted garlic soup was on special and fantastic. Boyfriend enjoyed the PEI mussels and the sirloin on special. He asked for it prepared rare and indeed got rare. The apple crisp was delicious for dessert."
