"We celebrated my wife's birthday with friends and had another fantastic meal. Oysters, aged sirloin steak and rack of lamb w accompanied by a nice Sancerre and a Caymus Cabernet. Service was great as usual. We love this place."

The Kunkel family was introduced to the restaurant business in 1979, when Carol & John purchased a well established luncheonette located on Kings Highway in Audubon, called Del"s Luncheonette. The family lived above the business and our children were exposed to the restaurant business at a very early age. Family has always been one of the key ingredients to our success in every restaurant that we have owned or have operated since then. <br />The feel of family is evident throughout Kunkel's, from the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by Carol, all the way to the kitchen where son Justin is preparing some of our great meals. You feel at home in our cozy dining room featuring two fireplaces and mahogany and painted woodwork throughout, which was designed and built by John. You will also find daughter's Rachel and Tereze occasionally serving our guests, as well as son-n-law Jim overindulging on pasta on Tuesday nights.

"My wife and I have been dining at Kunkel's or many years and they have consistently had the most tender and flavorful filet au poivre anywhere in the country. The one thing that separates good restaurants from great restaurants is consistency. This family owned and run restaurant has some of the best steaks and seafood in the area, with creative preparations across the board. One of my favorite starters is their Johnny's Wedge. It's their creative spin on the Iceberg wedge salad that most steakhouses have, only better. Even the bread in the bread basket is some of the tastiest around and served warm with an olive oil and balsamic dipping blend. Friendly and personal service adds to the total experience."

Built in 1840, this former Cape May plantation residence is now home to the acclaimed Washington Inn and Wine Bar. The Craig Family has carefully preserved the beauty & essence of this distinctive treasure without undertaking major alterations to its original form. The Inns welcoming facade overlooks tree-lined Washington Street in the seaside communitys Historic District. The Washington Inn offers six unique dining areas, from a summer patio to cozy fireside tables. Cocktails are a must in the Wine Bar, where the passing Cape May scene can be best appreciated. Often described as romantic, our easy-going elegance will satisfy anyones craving for fine dining. Our enticing menu offers the best of American cuisine, but with an inventive, upscale edge. Food, Service, Ambiance, the essential ingredients for dining excellence, are all deftly blended here at The Washington Inn. We are what "eating out" used to be -- before it became hurried, incorporated & unimaginative

"My wife and I had a wonderful meal at the Washington Inn on Thursday. We began our evening with some wine and oysters at the bar. Marty, the barman, recommended a delicious white wine, Greco, to go with the oysters. We were seated promptly and then the wow moment came, when we reviewed the wine list. Sue had the roasted chicken entrée and I had the sirloin steak, which were both well prepared and tasty. We chose a Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello to go with our meal. From the beginning to the end of the evening, everything was quality driven. Fresh, ice cold oysters shucked perfectly, great bar and wait service, delicious, well prepared dishes and one of the finest wines list anywhere make the Washington Inn one of the best."
