Chef Mike Isabella opened Kapnos along the Fourteenth Street Corridor in July 2013. Isabella draws inspiration from Northern Greece to create a menu of spreads, breads, vegetables and other small plates, including his signature wood-grilled octopus. Two wood-fire grills with rotating spits and a large oven for stone-baked flat breads service the 160-seat restaurant. Guests enjoy carvings from whole animals that have been spit-roasted all day, including lamb, goat, duck, chicken, and suckling pig. Kapnos is open for dinner seven nights a week.

"We went this time for Happy Hour and stayed for dinner at the bar. The Happy Hour is spectacular, featuring some of their finest items along with good wines. For dinner we had about 6 different things and ate "tapas" style. Everything was great--we especially liked the octopus and spanakopeta. KAPNOS is a really solid restaurant as is its adjacent little brother, Restaurant G!"

Located in the heart of the Chevy Chase villages, a mile away from busy Bethesda and a few blocks North of the District of Columbia, La Ferme has been serving Contemporary French food since 1985. Our covered patio can be used for dining or a private function (Spring to Fall) Romantic setting with lots of private tables (including 2 balcony tables for 2).

"Congratulations to the chef and kitchen for continuing to produce such high quality food. Two of us had dover sole, grilled to perfection including the little grill marks and excellent sauce. Wine list is quite nicely developed and a bit pricey, but some good bottles at lower 2 digit range. Busboys were also excellent, as is the ever present and charming host."

TICO, an affectionate name for a local in Costa Rica, is gently influenced by chef/owner Michael Schlow’s travels to Spain, Mexico and Latin America, and was named one of the “Best New Restaurants in America” by Esquire magazine. The rustic space evokes a sense of communal dining with smaller, tapas-style options to share, offering whimsical dishes that creatively blend flavors from all over the world. TICO has a playful, inviting vibe as it boasts an open kitchen with six stools at the ceviche bar to observe the behind-the-scenes action. TICO offers an extensive beverage program including draft and craft cocktails, local breweries and wines from Central and South American, Spain and the US.

"TICO is a large space that was well constructed to try and manage sound; it has a food bar, regular bar and two dining spaces--and an open kitchen--all very nice. I thought the food was good but not at the level of other new 14th street places. Pitcher of margaritas was a pitcher of ice with some margarita! Overall management of the dining room needs improvement--many employees rushing around almost at random--walking distances but not checking tables on the way back. Coordination between bar, waiter and table drink delivery poor. Some food came very quickly--like 2 minutes, well before drinks. Waiters are trained to obviously push-push-push. In the end, needs team bonding/training/staff peripheral vision and attention to timing and tempo."

"AP is a solid addition to the Walkers Point restaurant scene. We like the wide variety of menu items, always comfortably priced and served by a happy staff that engages the customers without being intrusive. The drinks at the bar are also interesting, and they have a wide variety. We like the setting along with menu items such as special fried shrimp, bur rata, fried chicken with an asian twist, fresh oysters, a great burger, grilled romaine salad--just to name a few. Really a great place."

"B TOO seems to have special affection for owner Bart, who is often there directing the scene. We dined at the bar with Duane, their bartender, who always provides a special experience. We ordered steak, venison and scallops---and everything was just great...as was our bottle of legendary pinot noir. It is nice to say--B TOO never disappoints and just seems to get better and better. Bart's innovations are always welcomed."

"Rasika has many awards and great food, in an environment that tests the patience of seasoned restaurant patrons. It is always busy and you find customers standing around waiting for their table, which is normal. Entering the restaurant you are greeted nicely by the staff and then see the stressed body language of the waiting customers. Food here is outstanding--that's for sure, and it comes to table in timely fashion. Our waiter presumed we could hear what he was saying, oblivious to the horrible noise level. I liked our lady bartender from Ethiopia very much, along with her colleague; in reflection, we should have dined at the bar, although the seats are hard/uncomfortable. Food is the star.Renovation of room needed/sound."

"G is known as a sandwich shop, but also is a very good organized menu in the evenings--consisting of appetizer, pasta, fish or meat, and dessert--all for $40. On this evening we had a really nice roasted corn ravioli and striped bass--generous portions. And dessert was also great--but so was the appetizer, consisting of about 6 different things--antipasto style. Wine list is excellent."

Petits Plats is a very pretty French bistro located in a town house directly across from the Woodley Park metro stop, the Marriott Wardman and Omni Shoreham Hotels. Step inside and you will find affordable delicious food in a very romantic atmosphere. On cold days, dining next to one of the 4 wood burning fireplaces is a nice touch. Summer time, enjoy the great view sitting outside in our private patio: watching the passersby on busy Connecticut avenue is a major amusement!

"PP is always a good choice for a pleasant evening--inside or outside--and a solid menu that does not disappoint. The wine list is "notable" because it is one big page of very good selections at reasonable prices. This is always a nice place for families as well."

"We have become regulars at Casa Luca where you can always expect an excellent experience from the focused menu of authentic Italian cuisine. The staff is very professional and friendly from the first greeting to goodnight. We especially like their pastas, but the fish and meat are always a treat. Now that it is getting warm, we noticed outside tables--will be a nice thing for folks who enjoy that sort of setting."
