"Since living on Upper Connecticut Ave for a very long time we all know the restaurant scene has been pretty disappointing. FINALLY--a real success has arrived. Macon is really good and is also a very inviting space. Our first visit was for Brunch, and I thought the menu was excellent, as was the service. Chef Dan is also outstanding and some of us remember him from his previous restaurant EOLA where he developed very inventive cuisine. So----Macon is high quality all the way around---very highly recommended."

Created by renowned Executive Chef Barry Koslow, Pinea serves contemporary European dishes with a focus on France, Italy and Spain. An exceptional selection of local vegetables and seasonal meats and seafood are enhanced by flavor profiles popular in these regions—citrus; fresh herbs, including lavender and rosemary; and curated olive oils. Feast on such menu highlights as handmade pastas and housemade spice blends, along with impeccably fresh and carefully sourced seafood like whole grilled branzino. Share bold dishes inspired by Italy’s merenda (afternoon snack): roasted serrano ham-wrapped figs with blue cheese, as well as pissaladiere topped with caramelized onions, black olives and boquerones.<br />Complement your plate with an esoteric wine from a southern European region such as Campania, Valencia or Languedoc Roussillon, or a unique craft cocktail or beer.

"We were very pleased with our table and the staff support during our dinner. We had the pre-theater menu which is available all evening at this time, but not promoted as such. Our option soup was quite good although we would have preferred more liquid rather than dense onions and bread. The main courses were nicely presented but tepid in temperature and served on a plate that had not been warmed.
At this time the promise of this new restaurant has not materialized--and given the very nice website, one expects a lot more. I believe they have a talented chef and hopefully things will support improvement.

"Bacchus is truly and outstanding restaurant. Customers can dine informally in the separated bar area--or experience pretty grand dining in the main dining room. We have done both now, and always impressed. We had many appetizers, treating them like tapas--and then chicken and fish--all of which was really good. Our servers--John and Autumn were also outstanding and made us feel right at home. I place Bacchus right up there in the top 10% of quality restaurants in Milwaukee--and I would add, you don't have to spend a fortune--especially if you dine in the vary attractive bar."

"While Jamonera is a tight space, the customers are friendly and interesting as is the staff and the senior bartender. It is a pleasure to dine there and enjoy some sense of everyday Spain. The octopus was spectacular--not something I would normally entertain, but they do it in a nice chargrilled presentation--so good--as was everything else. Jamonera is very popular so book your table well ahead--also--dining at the bar is really nice too."

"We enjoyed our special evening at Nocciola and Valentines Day. While they had an ambitious special menu, we put our own together and enjoyed everything. Oysters and Lobster bisque were really very good, and I liked that the bisque was lighter--not one of those heavy butter/cream things. We had several home made pastas and I had the branzino which was very good. The staff is exceptionally friendly here under the leadership of Angel who was very kind to us. We thought the whole experience was great--including decent priced wines--and we will go back--especially for their outstanding pastas. Bravo to all---and only open a short time--very much worth a visit soon--including all of us. Thanks to John in the kitchen, and Angel and Victor. Note for Harlem and Upper East Side--go to Nocciola soon!!!"

"Upon entering one is professionally greeted and escorted to table; along the way, looking at the many staff--first class comes to mind..in a nicely designed, casual environment. The menu is not huge--something I like--and there is much from which to choose. Chef is very talented and inventive, and has kept many favorites on the menu, and I am sure will add new things along the way. This would be my wish--more new inventions from the kitchen--otherwise--a really first class establishment."

"We ate at the back bar with our favorite bartender on duty and had a great time. Almost anything on this menu is excellent--and especially even the simple things like guac and chips. Their drinks are outstanding and overall management of the dining rooms very good. At the end of the meal we saw Jose Andreas and enjoyed a brief chat--what success he has had from those early days at Cafe Atlantico when we were also regulars."

"RR is a bar and restaurant but even more--an experience. Loud music, uncomfortably crowded bar, very busy dining room, good food and decent service once you get their attention. Actually the staff was very friendly and seemed to care about our well being. we had the large single seafood platter for two that featured lobster and a wide variety of fresh seafood--all of which was pretty good--I would have preferred a batter liquid base. while I like many kinds of restaurant environments, I found this one--even with service and good food--uncomfortable and best suited for folks who like high energy and large portions."

"Sunday evening is a family style Italian menu of several courses in very, very generous proportions. We really liked the appetizers and thought the main course pasta was ok but nothing special--seems to me they could do something just a little more imaginative than thin or think spaghetti. Garlic bread was served along with a mushroom filling, so the garlic taste was lost--but the overall product rather interesting. G is a nice concept, and maybe the other nights of the weeks are better for me--but I am glad we have G and I recommend it."

"Our dinner at Cafe B was excellent and everything went well. We split one of the appetizers, had generous main courses, 2 cocktails and a very, very good--but inexpensive--pinot noir. Both of us had fish that was perfectly cooked and generous in proportion. I would strongly recommend this restaurant."
