Nestled in the Landmark Building in The Historic Third Ward, Coquette Cafe serves up authentic bistro fare in warm, casual surroundings. Coquette is the kind of place where guests can pop in any time of day for everything from French Onion Soup and Flatbread Pizza to Crisp Provincal Roast Chicken. Whether it's cozying up to the bar for a glass of provincial French wine or exclusively brewed French ale, or having dinner or a small banquet in one of its three bustling dining areas, Chefs and Co- Owners Nick Burki and Chris Hatleli and their wonderful staff are eager to accommodate one's every need. Although brand new in February of 1999, Coquette's informal decor blends well with its vintage surroundings. The dark wood, mirrored back bar and glowing gold walls invite you in to experience top quality and unassuming fare that you might find in the home kitchens of French grandmothers.

"We have been to CC about 5 times in the last year, and are always very pleased by the tasty food, very pleasant staff and solid service. we also like the design of the restaurant with nice tables in the front windows and some booths. The bartender is a complete professional, and the selection of drinks very fine. Excellent place for lunch and dinner."

"Morel has only been opened a short time but already demonstrates the poise and professionalism you expect in supervising floor management, kitchen/chef talent and timing and high quality and innovation in the food. I have been twice and can't wait for the season when the "morel" mushroom or a truffle might appear on the menu! Strongly recommend reservation which can also be had at the Chef's counter if you like to watch the food preparation--quite impressive operation. Wonderful addition to the MKE higher quality dining scene. Go Go Go"

Rasika, which is derived from Sanskrit meaning "flavors,” is the award-winning modern Indian restaurant owned by Ashok Bajaj. Leading the kitchen is Group Executive Chef Vikram Sunderam, a 2012 nominee for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic from the James Beard Foundation. Rasika has consistently earned four stars in the coveted Dining Guide of The Washington Post, and is in the top tier of Washingtonian magazine’s annual “100 Best.” Esquire magazine named it among the country’s best new restaurants in 2008 and Food & Wine magazine also stated that Rasika is “One of the hottest restaurants in the world.” Rasika showcases authentic Indian fare prepared on the Tawa (griddle), Sigri (open barbeque), as well as Tandoori and regional dishes. The restaurant is also noted for its international wine list, innovative cocktails and intimate, plush dining room. For private dining, Rasika has an exclusive space that can seat up to 16 guests and a semi-private area for up to 28.

"Both Rasika locations share enormous popularity, and Rasika West End is a gold mine in the neighborhood. High density, high energy excellent restaurants show the stress and pressure required to get the job done-and this begins with a hostess scripted to say your table will be ready soon, wait in the bar. Once at table a waiter eventually appears--and this time ours was excellent. Wish he had stopped by around the time we were seated--if only to greet us for a moment. Once ordering began, all went well and the food was really very good and our bottle of french wine just perfect with the flavors. Managers should visit tables at least once in the evening like their owner visits his restaurants. Rasike will make you like Indian cuisine."

"Le Diplomate is a huge restaurant but maintains the air of a french bistro. On a usual busy evening the staff is always moving about and not always noticing that hearing what they are telling us, is very hard to hear. Two circulating managers watch things, and do a good job in such a large place. The kitchen at Le Diplomate is really outstanding-several of us had perfectly cooked fish--the trout was particularly spectacular, and the accompanying green beans nicely al dente. We like the architecture of the spaces, and the design of the bar. I appreciated the sensitivity of the front desk staff and the table support from our waiter and the manager. Bravo for Le Diplomate! Definitely recommend strongly--make reservation well in advance."

"Jaleo, in its original form in downtown DC, is just wonderful. We were seated at a nice window table and devoured a dozen or so tapas. Each tapas was truly individual and unique and our wine outstanding. The kitchen is exceptionally well managed--big compliments to the CHEF and the floor managers. We had a great time with visitors from Britain."

Petits Plats is a very pretty French bistro located in a town house directly across from the Woodley Park metro stop, the Marriott Wardman and Omni Shoreham Hotels. Step inside and you will find affordable delicious food in a very romantic atmosphere. On cold days, dining next to one of the 4 wood burning fireplaces is a nice touch. Summer time, enjoy the great view sitting outside in our private patio: watching the passersby on busy Connecticut avenue is a major amusement!

"Petits Plats is making a substantial move upward in the quality of the cuisine from a kitchen staff that is often busy with groups along with the regular customers. On our evening the restaurant was full, yet service was excellent and we both had fish that was picture-perfectly cooked, and accompanied by wondering grilled/roasted al dente garden veggies. PP should become a serious destination for everyone, and given a really refreshed look by diners who normally visit the highest rated Opentable restaurants. Bravo Petit Plats."

Michel Richard's modern American brasserie,and winner of the 2008 James Beard award for best new restaurant is located on Penn. Ave NW between the White House and the Capitol. We serve Michel's tribute to great American cuisine, both modern and classic, with a French accent. A vibrant bar scene with boutique beer and wines, and modern and classic cocktails.

"We had dinner at the bar with Nikki their excellent bartender. Lobster burger and Steak Onglet were both very good, as were the accompanying french fries..among the best in DC. We like CENTRAL very much, but hope Michel will also once again have a DC restaurant that was like Citronelle."

"Three of us had a wonderful evening at MATYSON. Our table was ready on time and we were well served by the staff. MATYSON is BYOB so we brought 2 bottles of expensive wine and shared some with our server. Everything we ate was really very good, especially the foie gras real liver, and the fish--I had monkfish which can be testy to cook, but mine was perfect. The chocolate dessert was like Michelin 3 stars! Highly recommend MATYSON. The restaurant is on the small side with high ceiling and tight tables--so staff movement is difficult and noise pretty intense at times--but still this place is worth your time and for return as well."

"WOW--this place os spectacular, adding another true gem to the several outstanding restaurants in Walkers Point. The chef is ambitious along with his young team that is very well orchestrated--even at this early stage of a new restaurant. It will be good to keep the menu on the small side for a while. I had mushrooms and the special ham biscuit -- truly outstanding--and the cocktail with Makers is also a gem. I think it will be hard to get into Morel for a while--so book early--and support all the other good restaurants in the area too!!!"

"Casa Luca may be the informal version of its big brother Fiola--but it certainly has a very high standard of kitchen success and service. The pastas are unique but sensible. Appetizers are inventive and deserts are full of imagination------and all of this comes at a very decent price point. They also have some very fine house cocktails. We are happy to go there any time!"
