It is perhaps fitting that the Murphy family motto is "Fortis et Hospitable" which, roughly translated, means brave and hospitable. The process of building a 200 seat contemporary Irish restaurant in a run down, 1920's former funeral home has been a project of epic proportions; definitely not a journey for the faint-hearted. The brainchild of Jim Murphy who, prior to his death early in 2003, had dreamed of bringing a contemporary twist to Irish cuisine in Chicago. Already the owner of the very popular Wrigleyville bar, Murphy's Bleachers, he felt that fine dining had yet to make its debut in his hometown. The building's structure has been painstakingly renovated by Joe Zapora, with many of the best of the original features being preserved. Artisans and craftspeople alike have been involved with the project, blending modern elements with the old to create a warm, inviting and unique environment.

"Mrs. Murphy & Sons provided an excellent dining experience in all ways -- food, service, ambiance, and easy parking. If I'm back in the neighborhood again (I live in another state, but was en route from O'Hare back home), I will definitely dine there again. Next time, I hope to experience the endless Mimosas for Sunday brunch."

Big and Bustling, Shaw's Crab House stands as a monument to fish and seafood. Besides the usual popular dishes, Shaw's management team is passionate about presenting treats such as Pacific salmon, fresh king crab, and smelt during their short seasons. Reservations made through Open Table will be for Shaw's Main Dining Room. If you would like to dine in the Oyster Bar, all seating is on a first come first serve basis.

"Shaw's is an exceptional restaurant in all ways. The service is smooth and the room is elegant and uplifting. But the food is the star attraction. The variety is so great and the quality is so high. My friend and I went for Sunday brunch, which is a thoroughly extravagant affair. The standards, like bacon, French toast, waffles, lox and bagels, are incredible and the incredible dishes, like lobster bisque, ceviche, sushi, and oysters, are amazing. The desserts are small portions of Shaw's standards, like raspberry pie, creme brulee, pecan pie, and Key lime pie, and they are delicious beyond belief. Even the Mimosa is wonderful here as it is made with Blood Orange juice for a spicy twist on the old standard."

One of the best restaurants in Chicago, in the heart of the Mag Mile. Nestled at the base of the legendary Tribune Tower, this stunning restaurant is a vibrant addition to one of Chicago’s most beloved and recognizable skyscrapers. Incorporating signature Tribune elements into our design, such as the etched travertine that came over from Italy, Howells & Hood pays homage to John Howells & Raymond Hood, architects of the Neo Gothic landmark. With a unique and refined culinary program, the largest draft beer selection in Chicago, and impressive staff, Howells & Hood is a magnificent compliment to Michigan Avenue.

Please note, we do not accept reservations for our patio tables. We will do our best to accommodate outdoor seating requests upon arrival. We look forward to serving you!

"Howells and Hood was a great find. The beer selection was impressive (over 100 on tap) and the food was good food taken up several notches with inventive sauces, fresh accompaniments, and great with beer. Did I mention beer? The flights were fun, and unique in my experience was the opportunity to purchase 1, 2, 3, or more 6oz portions for a mini flight. Fresh donuts - with bourbon sauce - completed the meal."

Classic Italian dishes with a contemporary flair have made Trattoria No.10 a Chicago favorite since 1989. Specialties on the daily menu include unique, homemade ravioli, rustic pastas, freshly prepared risotto, fresh fish selections and grilled filet of beef. The subdued elegance of the interior, with arched walkways, murals and original art provides an intimate atmosphere that is perfect for business lunches, pre-theater dining, romantic dinners or private parties.

The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street the Walnut Room is the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. With Circassian wood paneling imported from Russia and Austrian chandeliers, the 17,000 square foot dining room is both elegant and comfortable. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theatre district the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show. And don't forget about the Wine Bar at the Walnut Room. Opened in November of 2007, the Wine Bar features a small plate menu as well as more than 20 wines by the glass. After all, in our store, we have been feeding the shopping tradition since 1905.
Enjoy a classic Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie, French onion soup, or choose from the more contemporary menu offerings created by some of the country's best known chefs as members of the Macy's Culinary Council.

"The Walnut Room provides such a great dining experience. It's elegant and refined -- and very spacious. The menu is constantly evolving. My favorite mimosa -- with a splash of cranberry juice -- is served here. It's always an enjoyable experience to dine at the Walnut Room and I try to do so on a monthly basis."

"Park Grill Chicago is a sophisticated yet comfortable restaurant. The food is prepared well and the service is friendly and attentive. The wait staff is personable and the food selections are very tasty and innovative. It was great fun to watch the skaters -- including a couple who got engaged on the ice -- from a window table. I'm looking forward to eating there when the skating rink is transformed into outdoor dining."

"The entire dining experience at McCormick and Schmick's exceeded my expectations. The service was gracious from start to finish. The menu was very appealing. I selected grilled scallops, which were perfectly prepared. I also received a lovely birthday surprise: a flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and toffee sprinkles. It was delicious. As a solo diner, I was very comfortable in a small booth, and as a commuter, I appreciated my server's efforts to arrange my meal in a timely manner."

Hutch was conceived based on two ideas; people want to be comfortable where they eat and what they eat and drink has to be cravable. Hutch represents just that, a warm and inviting place to truly enjoy yourself and food that is approachable, and most importantly delicious.

Let Hutch be the place you come back to over and over. Come create memories, enjoy the best of what life has to offer, and come crave one great experience after another dish, by dish.

"Hutch is a light-hearted, fun, and very cool restaurant with really delicious, innovative, satisfying food from the heartland. We went for Sunday brunch. The place was packed, but that did not mean delays, since the servers stayed ahead of demand. Now I can say I have had a green Bloody Mary, and it was good."

"Everything was delightful at this popular downtown destination. I enjoyed a wonderful lunch of parmesan-crusted scallops, sauteed spinach, and a large flute of bubbly. The bread basket was filled with a variety of sweet and savory breads...and I sampled each one. The service was impeccable, attentive and discreet at the same time. The ambiance is fun and fast-paced, with a traditional cast. All in all, a very nice experience."

Ciao Bella (which translates to "hello, beautiful") is a reminder that Italian food can be much more than lasagna, ravioli and spaghetti. "The Mediterranean diet is one of the best in the world". "Just good, authentic food made with love and passion. Pair with a beautiful wine and it's wonderful".

"We dined in mid-afternoon, right around the time that shifts were changing. Although the restaurant was quiet, it also seemed like everyone was a little disorganized. My companion did not receive what he ordered, which meant he was waiting while I was eating. Our server was very apologetic, but it was somewhat uncomfortable for us. Usually the food is exceptionally good and very fresh at Ciao Bella, but this time, our salads were a little wilted. Since it was mid-afternoon, we tried the panini instead of entrees. We were a little disappointed in them too, as the bread was somewhat soggy instead of crisp."
