Located in the heart of Lexington Center, il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar is a restaurant from Chef Dante de Magistris and his brothers Damian de Magistris and Filippo de Magistris. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar continues the story of il Casale Cucina Italiana that began in Belmont five years ago, but is a tour around the Campania region of Italy where the de Magistris family hails from.

il Casale Cucina Campana features an open kitchen clad with imported hand painted tiles from Vietri, classic Italian country furnishings made from reclaimed barn wood, and rustic metal ambient lighting pendants. A vintage map of the Campania region fills a floor to ceiling wall that is at the end of an 18 seat Carrara marble bar. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar celebrates the ties to family and the roots from which they come, and Chef Dante and his brothers Filippo and Damian welcome each and every guest as an extension of the de Magistris family.

"Il Casale in Lexington is located ideally, right in downtown. I arrived a half hour before the rest of my party, but was seated promptly and served graciously until they arrived. We had outstanding service, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Just the right combo of quiet with a bit of an interesting buzz. The interior is contemporary/Italian and the food is Southern Italian. The vibrant bar does not intrude on diners, but adds a sense of energy. The bruschetta was unique and great. My glass of wine was a cut above the usual house wine. We were a bit disappointed they did not have more vegetable side dishes, which is our only suggestion for improvement. We will definitely be back, eager to try more dishes and enjoy the excellent service."

Hungry Mother is a neighborhood restaurant, offering a welcoming place to enjoy great food, unique and local wines and beers, as well as cocktails and liquors. Chef Maiden's food is blend of his training in classical French techniques, his Virginian roots, and his commitment to local sustainable ingredients.

"Hungry Mother prides itself on a wonderful, warm atmosphere with great home style cooking. The service is attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant is filled by those with reservations, so always plan ahead. They offer a deal with nearby Kendall Square Cinema, and if any good movies ever get made again, we will take them up on it! Meanwhile, it was the perfect setting for us to enjoy with another couple--no one hurried us along, and we had a great evening. Do try the cornbread, and get a full serving (they also offer half). It's great."

Legal Oysteria is a casual neighborhood restaurant serving coastal Italian-style seafood. Executive Chef Rich Vellante developed a menu based on the food he cooks at home for family and friends.

Legal Oysteria’s menu showcases the freshness and purity of its seafood offerings and other ingredients. Preparations are simple and authentic. A brick oven (with pizza oven and rotisserie) informs the menu. There are options for those who choose to table share or prefer more traditional coursed dining. Our bar program was designed to complement the cuisine. The all Mediterranean wine list is heavily focused on Italy and Spain and the cocktail program highlights the beautiful wine, vermouth, chinato and amaro of Italy and beyond.

By tradition, an osteria is casual, comfortable and accessible and Legal Oysteria aspires to afford that same experience.

"We thought it had to be a great: we are huge Legal seafood fans.We love Italian Osteria restaurants. They could benefit from becoming either more like a standard Legal Seafoods restaurant, or more like an Italian bistro. It is neither. The service was indifferent, in stark contrast to the usual high standard at Legal. The food was odd at best. I had the silk handkerchiefs--which was basically pasta in a green souplike substance. The appearance was to say the least off putting. It actually tasted fine. We ordered the ricotta fritters, which were slightly overdone. The crostini were quite good. The bread was dry and served sliced, on a plate. The artichoke lasagne was so-so, and a bit small. If it succeeds it will be due to a great location."

Giulia is a chef-owned Italian restaurant located between Harvard and Porter Squares in Cambridge. This is the first restaurant of award-winning Chef Michael Pagliarini. Our focus is on inspired food and great service with true Italian vigor. We put a particular focus on our hand-crafted pastas, made each day on our custom-built chef"s table adjacent to the open kitchen.

"I hate to review this place because more people will know how great it is. This is possibly the best restaurant in the Greater Boston area. It's small, located on Mass ave in Cambridge, and unpretentious. Everything on the menu is outstanding. If you wind up sitting at the bar, you are served by a relaxed but on top of it bartender (unlike some upscale places that just cannot be bothered with providing excellent food service at the bar). Everyone on the staff is into making your experience exceptional. We have been there many times, and never experienced anything less than superb--food, wine, service, atmosphere."

Unwind, Italian-style, at Rialto, where James Beard Award-winning chef Jody Adams brings an Italian perspective to New England ingredients. Menu changes monthly to reflect the best in seasonal ingredients and highlight different regional cuisine of Italy. Current menu offerings include: Citrus Braised Octopus with a potato-garlic purée, tomatoes, capers, and coriander, Whole Grain Cannelloni pasta with chanterelles, porcini, ricotta, pancetta and hazelnuts, Roasted Duck Sandwhich with Gruyère, gingered figs and hand-cut fries and an Apple Almond Cake with apple-lemon curd, chestnut honey and almond gelato.

The Boston Globe awarded Rialto a coveted four stars in three consecutive reviews and Gourmet Magazine named it one of the "World's Top Hotel Restaurants." "Located in the Charles Hotel, this restaurant is for special occasions. It was a bit more expensive than we usually go for, but worth every penny. We might go here more often if we were in a higher income bracket. The service was extremely good without a hint of snobbery, and the food was divine. It is clearly the go-to place for the well-heeled in Cambridge."

Welcome to Devlin's Restaurant, where we've got a little bit of downtown uptown. We serve great cuisine that's both innovative and traditional in Brighton Center Mass.
Delicious seafood and meat dishes, pastas, salads, sandwiches, homemade desserts and an extensive wine and specialty drink list are why people keep coming back to Devlin's. All of this combined with a pleasant chic environment and friendly helpful wait staff makes Devlin's the perfect place for business, social, and family dining.

"I went out of my way to get to Devlins, and felt like an interloper. Clearly it is the neighborhood bar/restaurant. I did not find it special at all, even though the service was quite good. The food seemed absolutely like every other neighborhood sort of Irish bar/restaurant in the greater Boston area. Fine if you are in Brighton, but not worth any extra effort."

Central Kitchen is located right in the heart of Central Square in Cambridge. We serve our delicious rustic Mediterranean fare seven nights a week. Think Paris, Tuscany and Barcelona with a raw bar and a wonderful wine list.

"Central Kitchen is a cut above the surrounding restaurant scene. Quite clearly the chef is creative and conscientious. The servers are knowledgeable and dedicated to doing things right. The setting is hip and energetic, but not the sort of quiet place you might want for a super romantic meal. We have been there several times and find the combination of the scene, the great food and interesting service to be worthwhile. You really should book a reservation as it fills up and by 9 or so the line to get in to the bar is out the door and down the block."

Hamersley's Bistro
Hamersley's Bistro
Gordon and Fiona Hamersley have owned one of Boston's most popular restaurants for 20 years. Hamersley's Bistro serves contemporary, full-flavored French/Mediterranean food in a relaxed environment. Located in the fashionable South End, Hamersley's is adjacent to the Boston Center for the Arts and its' affiliated theaters and galleries. The historic brick building, which originally housed a piano factory, has been transformed into one of Boston's most comfortable dining atmospheres. The dining room has butter yellow walls, exposed beams and a view of the open kitchen so diners can watch the chefs work in their brightly colored baseball caps. There is also a cozy bar, where neighborhood regulars gather for food and drinks, as well as a large patio for casual summer dining.

"Hamersley's is the kind of place that takes and then honors reservations. You are treated like an honored guest. They understand you probably are on your way to somewhere, most likely the theater. The service is prompt without seeming rushed. The interior is glowing and lovely. The other patrons are all well dressed and also with friends, ready for a night out. the food is superb. All in all, one of the best in the area."

With a seasonally changing menu and nightly specials, The Red House offers European-style cuisine with the convenience of ordering most items in your choice of appetizer & entree size. The Red House setting is intimate and cozy, tucked into a beautifully renovated historic home in the heart of Harvard Square. "Located in an historic old house in the center of Harvard Square, this place exceeds expectations. The food is very good, and the service is attentive but not overbearing. We were in a room of our own (for five) upstairs, and we happened to be next to a room with a very loud group of people, which was less than optimal. Most of us enjoyed our food, which was good but not exceptional. The overall experience is very good, especially in an area where most restaurants aim at students who want cheap food and abundant beer. This is better than that, but not snobbish at all."
