The "elegant" brasserie, "a Montreal landmark", this "très français", "très chic". Plateau "gold standard" is valued for "textbook perfect versions of traditional bistro fare" and "interesting" wines and «easy-on-the-budget" prices. Zagat 2012

Dreamed nice, delicious and affordable restaurant open to everyone, (see the menu www.restaurantlexpress.com)all the time, from 8:00 AM until 3:00 AM.

Designed by Luc Laporte architect. Simple, brilliant, unique, accessible. L'Express opened in 1980. American for the French, a Parisian bistro for New Yorkers or Bostonians. Montrealer.

Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated, so, please, come on in!

Parties of 8 or more, please call to make a reservation.
"Superior. A true gourmet experience - to call it a a "gastropub" is to sell the food here way, way short. This is a great restaurant. We had melt-in-your mouth swordfish (maybe the best swordfish ever), squid ink pasta, burrata, pickled eggs...as good as anything like this - no, better - going on in New York, San Francisco, Barcelona, Paris or London. If it's on the menu when you go, try the bread pudding for dessert.
Slick, yet organic, design aesthetic to the interior. Great, friendly, knowledgeable wait staff (this includes the bartenders and prep cooks). And since when did Harvard Square diners get so good looking?"
