Scratch features American cookery in an elegant setting. The cuisine is based on the premise of simple food done well and draws from American classics reflecting today's influences and bounty of ingredients. Choose from a tender moist braised short rib, rotisserie chicken, or perhaps a selection from our fresh seafood and oyster bar.<br /><br />For beverages Scratch has researched some of the finest vineyards and distilleries in the United States. We have a wide variety of wines and spirits to choose from in all price ranges. Some of our wine and spirits are highly allocated and will not always be available.<br /><br />Scratch also offers a vegetarian menu. <br />

"This place is suited for its many happy hour eaters and drinkers, but not for coming to dine.
Though we came early, the kitchen was already over its head. The wait for food was ridiculous and the timing was a joke. However, the crab cake appetizer was worth recommending. The mushroom flatbread @$15 was just plain dough with nothing special on it. Ordered a salad with regular dressing and grilled chicken; got dry salad with no chicken- and this was exactly 20 minutes after flatbread came, even though we asked for the salads and flatbread to come as close together as possible.
We had been here a couple of time over the past few years and wanted to give it one more chance, since we were going across the street to the MVCPA for a show. Big mistake.
The owner has other restaurants that we frequent. Maybe the kitchen here is just too small for the two massive dining rooms. As for service, there were about four suit types on duty- doing exactly what, I couldn't tell.

"The dining room is spacious, with a view to the Pacific from almost every table. Comfortable seats and a nice fireplace add to the experience.
Every dish was outstanding. The cheese plate offered toasted multi-grain bread, generous wedges of selected cheeses, and complimentary items such as honey, nuts, dried fruit and olives.
The flatbread includes at least five ingredients, all fresh and well-seasoned.
The garden salad was hard to improve on. For the crab cake appetizer, they give three medium cakes. They are all crab, with a thin crispy (panko?) coating to hold it together. Never had better crab cakes- ever.
The organic half-chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans was well-prepared.
The wine selection is ample. Try Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir.
The bread pudding and the chocolate cake were memorable- seems the icing on the chocolate cake is made with a cream cheese base rather than the usual overly sugary thick chocolate frosting.
Service was good. The maitre'd treated us like we owned the place. As for value, the price is right. Where we live, this experience, if you could find it, would be more expensive."

"The food and service are all you could hope for. La Posta does not have an interior to match the high quality of the cuisine, but we don't really care because it is comfortable and there is a warm atmosphere created by a service team that are all real nice and competent people.
Worth driving a distance. When ordering, the pizzas should not be overlooked as a part of your meal, but since their bread is the best you will ever taste, plan to take some of the pizza home."
