JessNYC's Reviews

Since first opening its doors in 1984, Gotham Bar and Grill has epitomized New York City dining at its finest, serving Executive Chef Alfred Portale's sublime and refreshingly accessible Contemporary American Cuisine in a dining room that is consistently packed with sophisticated diners from all over the country and the world. One of the secrets of Gotham's success is that it is an institution that has never become institutional. The unparalleled quality of the food and service are constants, but the rest of the Gotham experience is constantly updated to keep the restaurant feeling as fresh as the day it opened. New menu items are introduced each season, the wine list is always evolving, and the dining room is regularly revamped. Gotham Bar and Grill has been honored as Most Outstanding Restaurant in the nation by the James Beard Foundation, which named Chef/Owner Alfred Portale Most Outstanding Chef in the nation for 2006.

"I've been to Gotham several times and every time it doesn't disappoint. It's always a treat. The only complaint I had were the drinks were a little slow to come out but the restaurant was packed. It's definitely a great meal and venue."

"My boyfriend and I were visiting Chicago and read all these great reviews about Devon, so we decided to try it. It was an awful experience. Our waitress, she was nice and friendly but forgot to put out entrees in and we waited for an hour and ten minutes between courses. That's completely unacceptable. When the food finally was brought over, it was cold and didn't taste like anything I wanted to eat ever again. Very bland and nothing worth writing home about.
The manager did comp our entrees but still I would have rather been somewhere good and paid full price.
The restaurant is downstairs, and has no windows. The decor is average if not a little outdated. I definitely would recommend going somewhere else.

"I had a good experience. Ca va is located in the intercontinental hotel. The setting is nice, hostess was great and the food was also tasty. I had the lamb shank and the truffle Mac and cheese is pretty amazing. Wines by the glass could be better but overall it was a great experience ."

Set in the sleek W Hotel Times Square setting, Blue Fin oohs and aahs its audience with a prominent raw bar, extensive sushi menu and much more! Unwind at either of Blue Fin's two bars and sip a seasonal cocktail or glass of wine from the 400+ bottle wine list. Up early for a matinee or just on your way to the office? Blue Fin gets the early riser going with smoothies and fresh squeezed juices, in addition to power-packed breakfast offerings featuring farm-fresh ingredients. To create this two-story, 400-seat dining spectacle in the epicenter of the most exciting city in the world, design firm Yabu Pushelberg provided original features as an expansive sparkling wall of highly polished mirror, glowing resin tables, and a floating staircase that leads to live music upstairs.

"Being this restaurant is in Times Square, my least favorite area . I always hesitant to go to Times Square restaurants because the food usually isn't the best and the restaurants are geared towards tourists, this is not the case at Blue Fin. The food was great , I had the halibut and my date had the special. Our server was so attentive, my glass was never empty. She continuously came and checked on our meal. I wish I remembered our waitresses name because I would ask for her every time."

STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Midtown is located in Midtown Manhattan, just steps from the bustling Theatre District. STK Midtown includes an outdoor patio and separate bar during summer months. As anticipated, steak is the main attraction. With a female-friendly mindset, STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options and market fresh fish entrees. Aside from steak, signature items include Parmesan Truffle Fries; Lil’ BRGs; Shrimp Rice Krispies; Sweet Corn Pudding; and Jump Lump Crab Salad.

"This was my first dining experience at Elia and I will not be returning. The owner was loudly speaking to a group of his friends who were sitting in the back. He was using profanity and standing directly behind my chair speaking in an outdoor voice to his buddy. I was unable to focus on my meal or conversation and since the restaurant was empty, it was impossible not to hear the entire conversation. We tried to get his attention but he was so engrossed in his conversation nothing could interrupt. I'd never return after that experience."

"The restaurant had great decor but the service is awful. Though they do honor their reservations. There was no wait for us to sit down at 8pm, front desk is very well handled. The waitstaff though is overwhelmed. They Didn't refill our water or offer us drinks in a timely manner the only thing they did fast was bring the bill. The waitress was good when she was available but her tables were all over making is difficult to track her down."

"Was in Breck for a week of skiing and we ate at every "nice" restaurant but on night 4 we are at Modis and we decided to eat there every night of the remainder of the trip. Food was fantastic, the venue itself wasn't well decorated or fancy but the food certainly made up for that. I can honestly say I would recommend the restaurant to anyone in the area."
