"Ben a fan of this place for a while. Great high end "real" mexican fare - not your burritto type place. Unfortunately went on Valentine's Day so some of the best items werent available and the quality wasnt the usual level. Usually this place is worth the trip so I'll give it a pass on a hallmark holiday."

Opened on October 25th 2013, The Dawson is a new partnership between local restaurateurs Billy Lawless (The Gage, Henri) and Branko Palikuca (Topaz, Amber) featuring cuisine by executive chef Patrick Russ (Next, Zealous). Celebrating the spirit of late 19th century Chicago, this casual neighborhood hangout features an energetic series of bi-level indoor and outdoor spaces. The Dawson is quintessentially American, from the familiar comfort food and classic cocktails with a twist to the nostalgic, versatile design and atmosphere.

"Overall good food but pricey. Service left something to be desired. Wanted to check out the new hot spot and worth the trip. Parking and cabs are not easy in this area. Not sure if I'd return but glad I went."

Mahogany and slate flooring, flagstone walls, deep leather booths and an open kitchen are meticulously combined in this contemporary downtown Chicago brasserie to create a sexy, yet urban atmosphere, ideal for business meetings, intimate dinners, private events and pre or post opera performance cocktails. This uniquely dynamic kitchen and bar features a bold American cuisine with classic French and Italian influences, as well as an impressive wine list with selections available by the glass or bottle.
