"We were so excited to return to 42- it was one of our all time local favorites. We looked for the vibrant scene we remembered on ou previous visit. Our reservations were for 915 our table was not ready until after 10 The restaurant completely downsized there is no bar to have cocktails to wait for table- instead there is only a lonely lounge. The wait staff offered us appetizers- to taste-in apology which was nice. But in general the food was disappointing. A highliht was the cocktail we ordered- the staff was very gracious and apologetic about our long wait to sit. We were just so disppointed this restaurant seemed to change its focus to events, rather tahn the hip bar scene and music along with the wonderful vibrant dining scene we had remembered in the past. The music was also - regae all night-which is fine, but not at all what we had expected with our past experience. WE left disappointed Like I said the staff was really nice and the service was good. It was just everything else- it was a lot to spend to be so disappointed."

A 16-foot Buddha, which floats above a reflecting pool filled with Japanese carp, presides over the scene at Tao. A favorite destination for celebrities and athletes, this Pan Asian restaurant specializes in authentic Hong Kong Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines. Tao has three levels of dining including the prized "Skybox" which offers views of this former movie theater unparalleled in New York. In addition to its 300 seats, Tao includes a sushi bar, lounge and two bars at which to enjoy the food and the show. Appetizers range from $8 - $18; Entrees: $16 -$39. Offering $27.50 Prix Fixe Lunch Menu year round.

"Food was amazing! Service was outstanding- night was perfect. Loved the SHrimp XO ! And the cocktails were great although- the Taotini- in Vegas is a different recipe- which I like much better. But Dragon cockatial was great as well! Had a nice time would return."
