"Marvelous evening! We ordered porterhouse for two, rare, preceded by a dozen oysters and salad, with a glass of cab. Finished with bread pudding, topped with creme fraiche rather than with whipped cream, a lovely touch. All superb. Took home half the steak for sandwiches.
Tuesday at 7, the restaurant was full. The waiter was a real pro, obviously very experienced, seemed busy but always nearby, there in a heartbeat when signaled. Clearly management assigned him the right number of tables. And his presentation was human -- none of this "Hi I'm Sam and I'll be your..." patter. He clearly knew how to read his customers, and I could see him responding differently to different tables. Congrats!"

"Technically it's a floating restaurant.
Tours, formal tea, sunning in a deck chair, then dinner in a space that was once the first officer's cabin, now with views of Long Beach Harbor. Service was not quite as polished as on the QM2 -- the assistant waiter extended an arm across my face to load my bread plate.
But the lobster bisque was tangy satin, the chateaubriand-for-two precisely rare with a delicious crust, the asparagus just the right crunch. Dessert -- the various soufflés looked best, but we were sated, so declined to wait a further 30 minutes for one to be prepared from scratch.
With a last stroll around the promenade deck, we picked up our car and headed back to our hotel in Pasadena."

Sette is Italian for seven, the traditional "lucky" number. The restaurant design is comfortable with a traditional Italian tone, and with a great "feel and flow." Sette Osteria is a destination place for people as well as a place for people walking in the area to come in and enjoy.

Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.

The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores Benetton and Sisley.

"It's all good, but we like the basic dishes the best, especially the fresh pastas. I had spaghetti with lava beans, accompanied by a robust chianti, delightful, and a perfect portion size -- not too big. Began by sharing fried calamari with a spicy tomato dipping sauce, and ended by sharing a ricotta cheesecake, plus a limoncello. Good prices, we come here often, and will keep coming back."

"My appetizer was particularly noteworthy. Of course everyone raves about the palak spinach chaat, but I tried the banana and avocado chaat. Wow. Astonishing decor, somewhat like the inside of a Klingon war bird, but brighter and without the smoke, but with a huge sculpture of a traditional hand symbol (thumb touching tip of fourth finger). Great service, very attentive."

The restaurant of choice of many distinguished diners and restaurant critics, Ristorante La Perla of Washington, located near Georgetown at the tail-end of the historic Pennsylvania Avenue, takes its diners on a culinary journey through Italy with elegant decor surpassed only by authentic mouth-watering Italian masterpieces. During Lunch and Dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while prime meats, poultry, seafood and vegetables roast to treat diners to a little bit of heaven, with a long lasting memory for your taste buds, thanks to the vision of famous chef Vittorio Testa, who has kept alive the Italian culinary tradition for over three decades. Chef-Owner Vittorio Testa will make you feel like you're dining in his house. The waiters exceed expectations, and the space is garnished with painted tiles and Venetian glass to make every dining occasion a memorable one. There's also Private dining and Outdoor seating when the weather permits.

"The chef and owner, Vittorio, stopped by our table. No complaints from us, only praise. Perfectly creamy burrata with sweet beefsteak tomatoes and herbs, though better without the addition of prosciuto. Excellent Caesar salads -- something extra, not sure what. My osso buco was tender and flavorful, while partner's linguini alle vongole was fresh and delicious. Fabulous cassata -- sponge cake, ricotta, other ingredients, and rum, very sweet. Most special was the place itself, decorative Italian, waiters in black tie, elegant table settings. A wonderful evening."
