30thanniversary's Reviews

Located in historic Old Towne Orange, Ways & Means cuisine features fresh, sustainably-caught seafood and seasonal ingredients.Inspired by classic oyster bars and fish houses found in coastal cities around the world. The restaurant also offers tender, prepared-exactly-how-you-like-it aged steaks, plus a rotating mix of East and West-coast oysters at its oyster bar.

The innovative wine list, which complements the coastal influenced cuisine, features selections from Europe to Australia and California to South Africa. It offers guests affordable wines by the glass, as well as more extensive offerings by the bottle. The thoughtful bar program includes classic cocktails prepared with a twist and premium beers.

Desserts are not an afterthought. In fact, you may want to come for the desserts alone.

"Made reservations for the Monday Lobster Special for $9.99 and they ran out. I give the restaurant credit for calling me to let me know that if I am coming to the restaurant for lobster they are SOLD OUT. It's cool we went anyway and had yummy oysters, Cesar salad and some clams all were very good and very fresh."

"We made reservations for 5:30pm and arrived early. We went into the bar for a cocktail and Don served us at the bar. Good drinks and bartender. We made our way to dinner and sat down by the fireplace. It was the start of OC restaurant week so they had the regular menu as well as a 3 course prix fix dinner for $40.00. We orderd off the prix fix menu. First course artichoke which was grilled and tasty. I had a salad which was fresh and very good with a lemon/cheese vinegarette. Our entrees were, a rib eye steak which was cooked perfectly and tasted really good. I had shrimp and scallops with asparagus; I thought everything tasted good. For dessert my husband ordered a decunstructed caramel apple and I had the ice cream sandwhich. All good."

Thomas Keller’s ad hoc, which literally means "for this purpose," was originally intended to be a temporary restaurant, open during the development of a very different concept. But, due to its loyal following, it was decided that it must be a permanent fixture in Yountville. ad hoc serves a prix fixe, 4-course chalkboard menu, changing daily. Food is served family style and reminiscent of the comfort food with which Chef Keller grew up.

"We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our wiater was very good and helpful with the menu items. This is a prix fix menu with 4 courses ($52.00 per person) and additional items you may add for an additional charge. For valentines they were offering caviar, champagne, shaved truffels, lobster and scallops. The prices ranged from $45 additional down to $18.00.
We started with a salad of endive, blood oranges, beets and a citrus vinegarette. Bone in rib eye steak with vegetables was cooked beautifully and was delicious. Followed with a small wheel of camembert chees and yummy warm bread to spread it on.
Dessert was red velevet cake (I'm not a fan of red velevet cake but everyone raved about it).

Goose & Gander is a charming restaurant in St. Helena, located in Walter Martini's historic 1920 bungalow. Lunch & Dinner is served daily in the basement bar, the dining room, & in the garden. Goose & Gander is a wine country public house and a local favorite, as well as the perfect spot to host events up to 100 people.

"Our first time at the Fig and Olive. We were early so we sat out in the covered patio by fireplace and had a cocktail. Everyone is very nice and attentive. We sat at our table at 5:15 our reservation time. Our service person was prompt and freindly and suggested a few items off the menu. We had chateubriane and it was fork tender and very very good. It is a bit noisy but it was doable where we sat. I would come here again but the bar area is crazy busy."

"Great service, wonderful and fresh seafood. Only disappointment for me is that they stopped carrying Dogpoint Sauvignon Blanc.
Other than that it was very good once again and this has become our favorite local place.
