Five is New American cuisine, with contemporary style.
An original downtown Berkeley gathering spot, where you can experience great diversity of people, food, wine, and spirits in a striking, yet familiar setting.
Five features live music by fine local artists every Wednesday and Thursday in July. Check our website for music details.

"Sunday brunch before the movies and it was a jewel of a place to experience the old hotel now renovated. My mother use to shop at Hink's department store that was on the ground floor back in the 60s. I had crab sandwich & a glass of the brut."

"I ate here with my sister on a warm May evening. She had catfish which was sublime. I had the salmon and wished I would have ordered the catfish after I tasted her dish. Wine by the glass was good. No desert tried."

Dosa is one of the world’s great culinary delicacies made from rice & lentils (no wheat) & served with a variety of fillings that will offer you the most authentic & tantalizing flavors of Southern India. Of course, DOSA is not just about dosas but about offering the broad selection of South Indian fare to San Francisco diners using fresh ingredients that are primarily local, organic, natural & sustainable.

Here are a few reviews and awards...

2011, 2010, '09, '08, '07 & '06 Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants SF Chronicle
2011, 2010, 2009 & 2007 Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand & Recommended
2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 Best Indian, Bay Readers Poll - SF Bay Guardian
2011, 2009 Best Indian Readers Poll Winner - SF Weekly
2010, 2008 Best Eats in San Francisco, SF Examiner
2009, 2008 & 2007 Best Indian, The Eat + Drink Awards - 7x7 Magazine
The Top 10 (New) Restaurants of 2006 -Michael Bauer, SF Chronicle

"I had a great Easter Sunday brunch at DOSA with their spritzer, lamb roti and dahl starter served with yogurt, tamarind and mint. I also had their sorbet of the day which was lemon and ginger."
