MarketBar is San Francisco's answer to Grand Central Station but on the water in the restored landmark Ferry Building. The casual menu offers many of the organic ingredients sold in the thrice-weekly farmer's market as well as the shops filling the interior of the building. Full Bar, creative wine list and seasonal market driven menu attracts a cross section of the city's diners to its handsome dining room, comfortable bar and spectacular outdoor sidewalk terrace. **We do not take reservations for the patio. We seat only complete parties on a first come first serve basis.

"We had early lunch. I had the cod sandwich and my friend had the Dungeness crab appetizer. We enjoyed the food outdoors on a sunny late morning."

Café Bistro is a stylish, yet comfortable restaurant featuring a contemporary American interpretation of classic bistro cuisine. Located on the 7th floor of the San Francisco Shopping Centre, it offers an exciting view of the downtown Market district.

Cafe Bistro food is visually powerful, bold in flavor and unique to the marketplace. The menu of flavorful appetizers, colorful salads, brick oven entrees and boldly flavored sandwiches are complimented by a well-chosen selection of hand-crafted cocktails and local California wines. A suggested finish to the meal would be the signature warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding or chocolate drizzled Profiteroles.

"Unfortunately, the crab cakes we ordered were no longer available so mid-stream we had to choose another entrée. My alternate of crab brioche sandwich was just okay but my friend's choice of angel hair and chicken was very well liked."

Lulu offers a seasonal Provencal menu featuring wood fired oven, rotisserie and grilled specialties. The 'family-style' cuisine is served in an impressive warehouse dining space. LuLu features an award-winning wine list and a wine bar offering over 40 wines-by-the-glass. Located in the SOMA district, just one block from the Moscone Convention Center, Lulu is the ideal spot for lunch, cocktails or a festive dinner.

"We had six in our party plus three were children. They offer enough selection that we all ate well. Two had the prime rib and several of us had the vegetable entrée plus salmon. We started with the great oysters. Shared a bottle of Margaux and ended with a flourless chocolate torte."

"We ate here on Valentine's Day but didn't realize ahead of time that it was only a Prix Fixe menu. The meal and wine was spectacular and so was the tab."

This James Beard Award winning restaurant with a clientele as diverse as San Francisco opened in 1979. A vibrant Parisian-style standing-only copper bar greets you as you enter on Rose Alley. Zuni's menu changes daily with dishes inspired by traditional Italian and French recipes. Nearly all of the produce, meat, and fish served at Zuni is farmed and harvested in a sustainable manner. Even without a reservation, bar tables are available on a first come, first served basis and the full menu is available. The bar also serves traditional cocktails made with top-shelf ingredients; refreshments at its best in an environment of effortless hospitality. Whether you dine early or prefer to dine after theater, Zuni is a welcoming haven. -Judy Rodgers, chef/co-owner -Gilbert Pilgram, co-owner
