"First time visiting the Winery since it took the spot of the old Newport mainstay, Villa Nova. The hostesses were very cheerful and seated us at a prime location with a fabulous view of the Bay. The tables for two are designed to allow either side by side or opposite seating which adds to the romantic nature of the restaurant. I loved the interior design of the restaurant which was upscale contemporary. The layout was fantastic as well.
Both the menu and wine list were extensive and first class. As my friend works in Newport, we met early at 5:30 and left the restaurant at 8:45. Our service was well timed, and we were allowed to take a leisurely approach to our drinks and dining. Thank goodness my friend knows much more about wines than me, as the wine list was extensive and a bit overwhelming. However, she picked one of the best Cabs ever from Pride Vineyard in Sonoma County, and we enjojoyed conversation and wine in a great relaxed atmosphere.
The appetizer and dinner menu also offered a really good variety of choices, and we settled on an ahi tuna appetizer, and spareribs and a fresh cod dish for dinner. The food was also excellent. The only possible negative here is that one best check his or her credit card and increase the balance before dining, as the Winery is a bit on the pricey side. However, as a place for a romantic dinner with a great lady and a leisurely experience, the Winery cannot be beat. Great experience."
