The last of its kind near 42nd St., Chez Josephine is a neighborhood gem. A tribute to legendary Josephine Baker, this Parisian bistro with live music and tantalizing menu exudes theatrical panache. One of New York's most romantic restaurants, a bit of Montmartre on 42nd St., the landmark jewel sparkles with an intimate setting of red velvet walls, a cavalcade of chandeliers and a blue-tin ceiling. The eclectic menu reinvents the traditional cuisine of the French bistro in an explosion of tantalizing flavor. Jean-Claude and Jarry Baker are your warm and welcoming hosts who treat you as family whether you come before the show, after the show, for a leisurely dinner in-between, or a drink at the zinc bar.

Chez Josephine draws a crowd unlike any other in New York as food critic Bryan Miller noted when he wrote: The dining room is a confluence of the famous and the fashionable, the infamous and unsung-with every shade of skin on earth and indeed you feelthe magic of Chez Josephine.

"Chez Josephine reminded me of a French brasserie in decor and tight quarters. We were greeted by one of the owners enthusiastically! He asked us if we wanted a quiet table and we said yes. Our table was in a small section in the back where we could hear the piano. The tables are very close and I kept hitting the person behind me. The server was personable and the food good. When you spend the amount of money it cost, you should be able to enjoy the experience for longer than an hour. We were asked if we were making a show and we said no but we could have. We had delicious cheese puffs when we arrived and my husband wanted a second one but there were no more! So everyone who arrived after us at 5:30 didn't get any. They should make more."

Located at the Alexandria Center overlooking the East River, the restaurant represents a dynamic new culinary destination in Manhattan's Kips Bay neighborhood. Riverpark reflects Tom Colicchio's overall vision as restaurateur, showcasing his thoughtful approach to dining. Chef Sisha Ortuzar draws inspiration from New York's international food culture and highlights seasonal farmers market ingredients to bring guests a modern take on American cuisine. The restaurant offers two unique dining options: the convivial bar space is perfect for a casual bite and drink; the dining room, and its more structured menu, is ideal for more formal dining. With its grand scale, unparalleled views and refined-yet-approachable cuisine, Riverpark brings a unique dining experience to a rapidly changing neighborhood.

"Riverpark is located in the Alexandria Center on E. 29th Street right on the East River. The view was great! While our reservation was for 11 AM, we could not order a Bloody Mary, which was delicious, until noon. The food was spectacular - grilled bread with avocado and another with goat cheese and marmalade. I had the frittata and biscuits - wow. Our server, Aaron, was accommodating and helpful. The hostess gave us small packets of herb seeds - there is a farm right across the plaza which grows herbs in the winter in milk cartons! On the weekend the area is very quiet but it was a wonderful place to be even in the cooler weather."

Food specialties include classic tortilla soup, tamales with shrimp and chipotle adobo, ceviches made daily, boneless short ribs of beef and enchiladas suizas. "Our server, Christian, was excellent. We had the delicious guacamole prepared at our table, margaritas, wine, and sangria. Our entrees were varied - fish, chicken, beef and all were delicious. We shared dessert and had coffee. At the end of the meal we were given warm churros and worry dolls - mine is named Pablo. A delightful evening! The meal was on the expensive side though - $200 including tip and tax for four people."

"This was our first time at this restaurant and it was an exciting evening! Lots of families, Santa and Mrs. Claus, Al, our server, good food and friendly owners. I had the pasta with seafood and marinara sauce which was delicious and lots of food! My husband had the veal special and my son had the swordfish special with olives. We shared a few appetizers and desserts. We had drinks and coffee. It took a while for the delivery of our food but we didn't mind - Christmas Eve, lots of diners and conversation..."
