The tradition of the South. The sophistication of California cuisine. Vibrant, cosmopolitan energy. Picán is 'Southern...Unleashed!' Full service bar/lounge with hand-crafted cocktails, Southern "twists" and classic standards. The most comprehensive Bourbon portfolio in the Bay Area; a thoughtful selection of wines. An open kitchen serves as focal point in the casually elegant dining room.

Unique Southern flavors: Signature Southern Fried Chicken, Catfish Nantua and VooDoo Shrimp & Grits. Seasonal produce and sustainably sourced meats and seafood. "Ultimate Southern Social Hour." Lunch Favorites: Flavorful salads, Southern Sammies including NOLA Brisket Burger! Brunch Favorites: Beignets, Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict and Bourbon Bloody Mary.

Private, luxurious dining rooms: The Bourbon Room seating up to 28 and Vieux Carré seating 40. Named "Best Overall Oakland Restaurant 2012" by Oakland Magazine.
"My first visit to Bay Area. After some searches - open table and other, I made reservations at Pican based on the hype as an Oakland hot spot. My group of four were all THRILLED with our brunch selections including the Blueberry Waffles, Al Pastor Waffle and Fried Chicken Benedict. The food was great. The mimosas were great. Everyone should try the BBQ Bourbon Bloody Mary. We ordered ours with an extra side of Sexy Bacon. Yum! Too bad I was visiting cause I would have liked to try dinner as well. Service was great - very friendly and attentive despite busy brunch hour. They have two dining rooms plus outdoor seating and a bar area. Really nice modern decor overall."

Grand Cafe
Grand Cafe
Welcome to Grand Cafe

We are a modern French brasserie located in the heart of San Francisco, merging France’s timeless vibrancy with an unmistakable Bay Area flair. Our fresh take on traditional French cuisine is paired with an extensive wine list and hand-crafted apértifs, served in a gilded Barbary Coast ballroom.

But don’t let the grandeur fool you. Dress up, dress down – we are all of the French with none of the fuss. An authentic piece of San Francisco’s past coupled with food that is bold, vibrant and fun.

Just steps from the Curran Theater and nearby Union Square, the Grand Café is an in-the-know destination for locals and tourists alike. (We’ve even been told we’re the place where locals bring their out-of-town guests.) Come by and see for yourself.

"I visited Hotel Monaco and Grand Cafe for the first time. I had both an excellent breakfast and dinner at the Grand Cafe. A quick drink and appetizers at the Bar was also enjoyable. The restaurant itself is beautiful with fun and funky artwork! The staff were very professional and friendly. A great location just off Union Square. Worth a visit for lunch, dinner or a special occasion."
