Daily Grill is located on Geary, near Powell, only a half-block from Union Square and in the center of San Francisco’s theatre district. Comfortable and clubby with booths and high ceilings, Daily Grill is a great place to take a break from the bustle of Union Square. The large menu and comfortable decor makes the Daily Grill a favorite stop before or after the theatre. Daily Grill is an updated version of the San Francisco grills of the past, providing generous portions of classic American dishes, such as steaks, chops, chicken pot pie, and meat loaf...a neat, friendly place where one can get crab cakes or a burger, cobb salad or a ribeye along with martinis, single malts, microbrews and a good bottle of wine. The ambience is lively and clubby, with comfortable booths, dark woods and high ceilings.

"I used to be able to count on the excellence of the chicken pot pie at the Daily Grill. No more. The last two times I've eaten here, it was substandard. Crust is still OK, but the filling is gooier, with less chicken flavor and fewer vegetables."

For over 25 years, Max's has served America's favorite foods with an upscale style at affordable prices. Boasting "everything you've always wanted to eat”, only at Max's will you find a corned beef Reuben, Chinese chicken salad, rib-eye steak, BBQ ribs and Roma pasta all on one table. And for those with a sweet tooth, Max's sinful; award winning desserts will keep you coming back for more.

Jackson Fillmore Trattoria is a local favorite for a relaxed, neighborhood meal. Jack has been cooking up great Roman and Southern Italian food at Jackson Fillmore since 1985. We have a small, intimate dining room with a dining counter for those who drop by. Our wine list is primarily Italian, representing all of the great regions in Italy. Our Tortellini al Forno and Tiramisu are legendary. We have a sister restaurant in Marin County, Cucina Restaurant & Wine Bar in San Anselmo. Check out our website to view samples of the menu and wine list, or for more information about us.

"Great food - loved the chicken Siciliana and the spaghetti carbonara were both excellent and the beet and bur rata were delicious. But the noise level is deafening."

This James Beard Award winning restaurant with a clientele as diverse as San Francisco opened in 1979. A vibrant Parisian-style standing-only copper bar greets you as you enter on Rose Alley. Zuni's menu changes daily with dishes inspired by traditional Italian and French recipes. Nearly all of the produce, meat, and fish served at Zuni is farmed and harvested in a sustainable manner. Even without a reservation, bar tables are available on a first come, first served basis and the full menu is available. The bar also serves traditional cocktails made with top-shelf ingredients; refreshments at its best in an environment of effortless hospitality. Whether you dine early or prefer to dine after theater, Zuni is a welcoming haven. -Judy Rodgers, chef/co-owner -Gilbert Pilgram, co-owner

"Although I'd quibble that the bread salad with the roast chicken was a little soggy and used mustard greens instead of the usual arugula, the food and the experience here are still top-notch. I've been going to Zuni since it was one small room - that's 30+ years ago - and I've never found it to be anything less than wonderful, even despite the occasional minor failure. You can always count on the shoestrings and ricotta gnocchi to satisfy a comfort craving and the scenes is always, well...a scene."

"I love France. Been there eight or 10 times. Only once did I ever have a waiter give me attitude. But if you think the French experience requires a haughty, chilly attitude, Bisou will feel authentic. Because the "service" we received was cold, unwelcoming and unhelpful.
Then there was the food. Ordered escargots. Expected the traditional ramekin of half a dozen snails in garlic butter. What I got were two oddly-breaded pieces of something, deep-fried and served on a pool of mushroom puree. My main course chicken was dry and flavorless. My dining companions' salmon and pork were judged no better.
We will not be back-especially after being charged a 20% gratuity with no notice."

"With several ordinary pizza joints, Marin was in dire need of a more gourmet option for pizza. A place where you could get more authentic Neapolitan pies, and Boca fits the bill. Nice thin crusts (though I could even go for a little thinner), fresh toppings, good flavors - I'll be back."
