The last of its kind near 42nd St., Chez Josephine is a neighborhood gem. A tribute to legendary Josephine Baker, this Parisian bistro with live music and tantalizing menu exudes theatrical panache. One of New York's most romantic restaurants, a bit of Montmartre on 42nd St., the landmark jewel sparkles with an intimate setting of red velvet walls, a cavalcade of chandeliers and a blue-tin ceiling. The eclectic menu reinvents the traditional cuisine of the French bistro in an explosion of tantalizing flavor. Jean-Claude and Jarry Baker are your warm and welcoming hosts who treat you as family whether you come before the show, after the show, for a leisurely dinner in-between, or a drink at the zinc bar.

Chez Josephine draws a crowd unlike any other in New York as food critic Bryan Miller noted when he wrote: The dining room is a confluence of the famous and the fashionable, the infamous and unsung-with every shade of skin on earth and indeed you feelthe magic of Chez Josephine.

"After a Sunday matinee, what a perfect place for an early supper before heading back to New Jersey! Cozy and romantic, we so enjoyed the piano playing old standards, show tunes and some surprises, too. A whole lobster out of the shell arranged artfully atop a bed of greens and sliced avocado was superb, as were the very tender braised lamb shanks with asparagus. We began with lobster bisque and the endive salad with bleu cheese and walnuts, both delightful, and rounded out the meal with their famous lemon tart brûlée. We sipped several cups of coffee to keep listening to the music - we hated to leave!"

In 1983, Café Luxembourg opened its doors to become the quintessential neighborhood bistro of the Upper West Side. The dining room of this charming 90 seat restaurant glows in the warm light of the Jean Perzel fixtures and antique mirrors.

Located on 70th Street just west of Broadway, Café Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers and celebrities alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Café Luxembourg staff.

The menu changes seasonally as well as offering daily specials. The classic menu dishes maintain a level of cooking on par with the city’s best restaurants. Café Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional, yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.
"Old world charm complete with tile walls and tiny tables cheek to jowl, but always superb food and attentive wait staff. Good wines, both white and red compliment the varied menu which always pleases no matter what we choose. Within walking distance of Lincoln Center, it is a favorite for pre-opera dinner, but a reservation is recommended as it is a popular place. Love the matchbook covers with the three naked ladies, definitely a throw back to a bygone era!"

"Meeting friends here for dinner was a good choice as it was centrally located and parking in the hotel garage was very reasonable. Close to theaters makes it good for before or after a show. Ultra modern atmosphere a bit cool rather than cozy but a cheerful waiter haloed warm it up. The service was a bit slow however due to a major event in the ballroom, which probably backed up the kitchen. Very good filet mignon although menu selections were limited."

"For a good dinner with nice wine for our group of 6, Chelsea Ristorante was a perfect choice after seeing Three Penny Opera at the Atlantic! A bit noisy, but cheerfully so, and we were well served. The veal dishes most of us had were tender and tasty and the variety of desserts was appealing. I look forward to going again soon!"
