La Folie is a French restaurant located in Russian Hill of San Francisco. Chef Roland Passot, with his wife Jamie opened La Folie in March of 1988. He combines the freshest ingredients in exotic combinations. Each plate leaves the kitchen resembling art-a canvas of color and design that tastes even better than it looks. La Folie continues to be rated as one of the top restaurants, receiving a star from the Michelin Guide, 4 stars from the San Francisco Chronicle and 4 stars from San Francisco Magazine. In celebration of 21 years, The Passots have expanded their bar into a lounge located next door, perfect for before or after dinner drinks.

**We thank all of our guests for voting La Folie

Best French Restaurant - 7x7 Magazine
Best French Restaurant - San Francisco Magazine
Best French Restaurant - SF Weekly
Best Restaurant - Eater SF

Merci!

"La Folie is a very special restaurant and a place where one can enjoy an excellent meal in a pretty room with fine professional service. This restaurant is not inexpensive, but my wife, grown son and I felt it was well worth the money. The menu is creative and the dishes are excellently prepared with a beautiful presentation. We enjoyed our meal here and will return in the not too distant future."

"My wife and I had dinner at MarkJoseph on July 4th just before the fireworks display. The restaurant, as you might will imagine was mobbed. Thanks to OpenTable, we were able to cut the line and we were immediately taken to our table. But there was chaos in the restaurant because of the the crowds of people. Our dinner was OK at best. My steak was medium-well, even though I ordered it medium-rare. The worst was the creamed spinach that was totally loaded with so much salt that it was not edible. We will not be returning to MarkJoseph, but perhaps the experience would be better on a calmer evening."

"Patina is a quality restaurant that has no problem competing with the finest restaurants in New York City, which is where my wife and I reside. We chose Patina for our one night in Los Angeles and it was a great choice. The menu is diverse with many creative dishes. The food and the experience was excellent and it made for a wonderful evening. I am really glad that we chose to dine at Patina, a place where an excellent meal in a romantic and beautiful room may be enjoyed."

"L'Artusi is perhaps the best kept secret in New York City. The food is amazing and the restaurant is beautiful. It is a great way to spend an evening in the West Village that is both special and romantic. My wife and I usually dine at high-end restaurants and L'Artusi has no trouble competing with the best restaurants in New York that are much more expensive. L'Artusi is a place that we hope to return in the near-future."

Since first opening its doors in 1984, Gotham Bar and Grill has epitomized New York City dining at its finest, serving Executive Chef Alfred Portale's sublime and refreshingly accessible Contemporary American Cuisine in a dining room that is consistently packed with sophisticated diners from all over the country and the world. One of the secrets of Gotham's success is that it is an institution that has never become institutional. The unparalleled quality of the food and service are constants, but the rest of the Gotham experience is constantly updated to keep the restaurant feeling as fresh as the day it opened. New menu items are introduced each season, the wine list is always evolving, and the dining room is regularly revamped. Gotham Bar and Grill has been honored as Most Outstanding Restaurant in the nation by the James Beard Foundation, which named Chef/Owner Alfred Portale Most Outstanding Chef in the nation for 2006.

"Gotham Bar and Grill enjoys an excellent reputation that they have earned over the years by providing excellent food with fine professional service in a gorgeous restaurant. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here. I started with the tuna tartare and it was served chilled on a bed of thinly sliced cucumbers with a tangy, but not overpowering sauce. My wife oped for a salad that she enjoyed. For our main courses my wife had the halibut the she raved about and I had the crispy soft shelled crabs that were served with a spicy sauce. It was perhaps the best that I have ever had. We split a key lime tarte for dessert and that was the perfect ending to a memorable meal. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it's worth the money."

"My wife and I have dined at the Union Square Cafe from time to time and our meal and experience is always amazing. Last evening I started with a half-dozen chilled oysters served on chipped ice with an excellent vinaigrette, followed by my main course of the crispy soft shelled crabs in a spicy tomato sauce accompanied by some fresh and flavorful zucchini. My wife opted for a salad and the halibut and we both thought our meal was wonderful. From my first cocktail to the end of dinner the service was pleasant and very professional. The restaurant is pretty, comfortable and always fun. We will return for another great evening at some point in the future."

Onegin is where you'll go when your usual palace just isn't opulent, caviar-y or crazy enough. You'll find smoked sturgeon by crystal-chandelier light. House-infused honey-pepper vodka from a bar made of 200-year-old Ukrainian birch. And borscht. Delivered to your red velvet throne by butler-jacket-wearing waiters.

Whether you head to the aforementioned bar, or past 19th-century carriage seats and into the brocade dining room, all roads lead to vodka. Available in a carafe, a cocktail or the spiked fisherman's soup (next-level comfort food).

The rest of the menu comes courtesy of the city's only operational Russian pechka, a wood-burning furnace that would have once been used to heat a czar's castle. Now, it'll heat your quail on a stick.

And while you wait between courses of pike caviar and pork belly pâté, you'll read Pushkin, his sketches and passages from secret journals have been etched around the restaurant in goose feather quill.

"Onegin is a restaurant where one feels that he is eating with the Tsars. I enjoyed a meal here the other evening with a business friend and we were both impressed with the decor. We also enjoyed our meal (I had the beef stroganoff) and we were able to converse in the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant. We both felt that our food was good enough to warrant a return visit."

The Clam is a new 50 seat neighborhood restaurant drawing its inspiration from one of our favorite ingredients, the clam. Mike Price, chef and co-owner, offers a menu that celebrates seasonal, market driven ingredients as well as showcases influences of the Atlantic seaboard. The menu boasts a variety of clam dishes, some classic, some with a new twist and fun originals. The menu is rounded out with iced shellfish, salads, appetizers as well as meat and local seafood entrées. Desserts follow suit, and are inspired by the seasonal and local market offerings. All made in-house, the approach is simple and straightforward with something for everyone. Our shared vision and common goal is to offer genuine hospitality to our guests, garner relationships and establish ourselves not only as a neighborhood gem but also a Greenwich Village destination where our guests can be confident that their experiences are sure to be exceptional.

"Dinner at The Clam last evening was enjoyable. It was my first time at this special place and it will not be my last. The setting is very pretty and the service was very good. The best part of the evening was the meal. I started with a half dozen oysters that were excellent and served with a delicious vinaigrette on a bed of chopped ice. I also sampled the delicious clam dip ... I had the crispy soft shell crabs served over a coleslaw type salad for my main course and it was amazing. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant where everyone on the staff could not be more professional and helpful."
