Raftmaster's Reviews

Stephen Starr brings his signature brand of hospitality and design to the nation’s capital with the opening of Le Diplomate, located at 14th & Q. Serving lunch, brunch and dinner, the stylish 260 seat restaurant transports diners to the beloved cafés of Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. The extensive menu features a variety of classic dishes including Onion Soup Gratinee, Steak Frites, and Poulet Roti as well as contemporary bistro fare, with dishes such as Shaved Veal Tongue with Mache and Bavette de Boeuf à l’Echalote. A thoughtfully curated wine list and cocktail program perfectly complements the cuisine and creates an environment suitable for romantic dinners or lively group gatherings. In warmer weather, enjoy dining "en plein air" in the stunning outdoor café where you can take in the bustling energy of DC while sipping on the perfect kir royale.

A New York landmark with Guastivino tiled vaulted ceilings. There are two dining rooms open for reservations and walk-ins. The oyster bar, lounge, bar, and counter seating are open to first-come first-serve customers. There are 450 seats for you to choose from and we offer 25-30 varieties of the freshest oysters and seafood.

"There is a reason that some restaurants endure and become institutions. The Grand Central Oyster Bar offers first rate, super fresh seafood in a very comfortable setting with a knowledgeable staff to enhance your dining experience. Try a selection of their astonishing assortment of fresh oysters, enjoy a bowl of the very nice Manhattan clam chowder or order a simply grilled fish and you'll be sure to back for more next time you find yourself in the Big Apple."

Located in the heart of Times Square and the Theater District, and walking distance to every Broadway show, this landmark eatery treats you like family and offers up perfect steaks, homemade mozzarella and a fabulous antipasto bar.
Bond 45 feels like part of old New York, because it is. The Ziegfeld Follies played on our roof back when the building was the Hammerstein Theater.
The New York Post calls Bond 45 “An Italian steakhouse reincarnation of the old Jack Dempsey’s, which already tastes like a long running hit, and Hal Rubenstein of New York Magazine says it: ”Treats [you] like family while executing home-style cooking as solid as my mom’s."

A Livanos' family creation, Molyvos is the closest you can get to Greece in New York City. Critics agree that Molyvos serves perhaps the finest example of Greek cuisine in New York, and beyond. People from around the world have discovered that Molyvos serves the true foods and wines of Greece, along with a large dose of the country’s warm and lively spirit. Molyvos’ menu is built upon the home-style cooking of Greece using authentic recipes, classical cooking techniques and superior ingredients. The wine list, under the keen direction of Kamal Kouiri, is unique for its depth and breadth of excellent Greek labels and small producers from the Mediterranean whose wine deserves to be enjoyed. Molyvos also boasts a carefully selected Pre and Post-theatre menu that perfectly accompanies an evening of entertainment.

"One of the beauties of DC is that there are some consistencies: the government doesn't work, the traffic is bad and getting worse and Rasika remains special in every way! If you're looking for first class service and exceptionally tasty fare, this is the place. The kitchen knows just what to do with spices and each dish is prepared with exactly the right amount of seasonings that turn what could, in other hands, be average food into flights of true epicurean delight! The wine list is interesting with some bargains amongst the higher end (and higher priced) offerings. Rasika's kitchen has never disappointed and each time we leave we're already looking forward to the next time we return."

"The room was not very crowded on our visit. We ate at Poste prior to an event at The Shakespeare Theatre. Our server was attentive but a burger I had requested with no onion and no bun came to the table with both. My wife's steak was a bit more done than she would have preferred but she said it was good anyway and time didn't allow her to send it back. The highlight was the French onion soup which was simply delicious and could easily have served as a meal in itself. This is a pleasant restaurant with a new chef. Hopefully his tenure here will be mutually positive her him and for patrons."

Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef José Andrés. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere.

"We enjoyed a perfectly nice meal here but it wasn't anything special. Service was adequate. My grilled trout was virtually tasteless. Won't hurry back."
