"Good atmosphere, good service, good drinks. Appetizers are excellent, especially the dumplings - main courses tend to be quite bland and underwhelming."

Restaurant Eve has one intention: to bring everything together in perfect harmony - ingredients, cooking techniques, presentation, and that ephemeral, indescribable characteristic that we call soulfulness. Herbs and fruits are gathered from our own garden and everything on our menu has a story, every ingredient is special. We purchase from farms that share our values of quality and sustainability, and showcase the best hand-fed, farm-raised, organically grown bounty Virginia and the surrounding countryside have to offer.

"Very disappointing lunch this time, nothing really running correctly- kitchen or front of house.
Usually fabulous and won't hold one off day against them, it is still worth going.

"Well executed but not memorable, special or different. Come for an average cocktail and some excellent house snacketizer sausages, then move on."

We accept reservations at our communal tables on Tuesday and Wednesday for dinner and Sunday for all-day brunch. Limited reservations are accepted Thursday-Saturday.

You are welcome to walk in and add your name to our list or dine at our bar.

Eat the Rich is an oyster bar by James Beard award nominee Derek Brown and award-winning oysterman Travis Croxton of Rappahannock River Oysters. Featuring local oysters and a menu inspired by the Chesapeake Bay, Eat the Rich is a tribute to mid-Atlantic cuisine and the great oyster houses of Washington, D.C. The kitchen, helmed by chef Julien Shapiro, offers seafood dishes ranging from whelks to eel pie. The bar, manned by bartender Ben Matz, serves oyster shooters, classic drinks, signature pitcher cocktails and awesome frozen drinks.

This isn't your typical oyster bar. At Eat the Rich, you can eat, drink and listen to rock music. It's named after a Mötorhead song, after all.

"Unfortunate. Bloody Caesars that require using your teeth as a strainer to drink (not a bloody caesar), lamb that was unrecognisable as lamb by flavor and texture (not a compliment). On brighter notes, the Waterman's broth was good although a bit soulless, and the oysters were perfect.
Sorry Derek....expected better.

Opened in 1999, and chosen by Gourmet Magazine in 2000 as one of "America's Best Restaurants," Johnny's Half Shell relocated to its present Capitol Hill location in September 2006. Renditions of Chesapeake and Gulf Coast Seafood remained the kitchen's focus, and the restaurant's new home maintained its homespun conviviality. Said Washingtonian Magazine, "The capitol dome shines in the background, a reminder of the new, more serious-minded neighbors who come here. But Johnny's still feels like home." In September 2007, New York Times dubbed the new venue a "Capital Gain" for Washington, DC.
