Steps away from the King Edward Hotel, Toronto’s financial, business, theatre, shopping and culinary districts. Carisma offers something a little different.

With a long history of being in the business, including restaurants such as Il Mulino and Barolo, Carisma prides itself on offering impeccable real Italian food and quality service.

Carisma epitomizes the overall dining experience. Whether it is a drink at the bar, or a culinary journey where you enjoy food with your senses first. It is a place where you feel at home and coming for years, even if its your first time.

"My first dinner at Carisma. All the service was welcoming, professional and wonderful. The décor is comfortable and sophisticated. The restaurant filled up quickly on the Thursday night (before Christmas week) and the clientele were on their way to the theatre, staying at the King Eddie, having a romantic dinner, celebrating Christmas with friends, on dates, or friends getting together - a really nice mix.
The menu was obviously prepared with great care and a Mediterranean flare. The wine list was also very well edited. Our server was charming and offered subtle and great advice. Our meals were delicious and presented beautifully. Servings were generous by my standards. The warm just-out-of-the-oven herbed loaf was a great start to dinner on a winter's night. We sampled the squid salad appetizer. The squid was grilled to perfection. Our mains were: 1. the 'daily special' swordfish, which was grilled and served with sauteed asparagus, red peppers and fingerling potatoes; and 2. the spaghetti with shrimp in a creamed tomato sauce. I spent 2 weeks in Tuscany last October and none of the pasta I ate there compared to Carisma's pasta! We shared an apple-pear strudel with vanilla ice cream as our server recommended and it was served with a perfect cup of coffee. Thanks to everyone at Carisma for a perfect dinner.
I'll be back - again and again - very soon!"

Dear Patron,

Welcome to bar MERCURIO. We are a quaint Italian restaurant that serves fresh pasta, a fish of the day, classic antipasti, and not - like our artichoke au gratin appitizer. With our salads you will find an anchovy partial cesar salad to a healthy dandelion salad with shaved crotonese cheese.

And what stands out are our pizzas. Our pizza dough has been a family recipe for over 100 years and not compromised. We don't do any of the new soft dough stuff that is trendy and etc etc

We serve classic pizzas like buffola and prosciutto to "crazy" stuff like pistacchio and fennel sausage.

Our gluten free crust is uncompromising.

In addition, we are pleased to be able to offer an interesting selection of wines by the glass with our Enomatic dispensing machine.

We look forward to seeing you.

Yours Truly,
Giuseppe Mercurio,
Proprietor

"Pre-theatre, pre-concert diners please note: Make sure you get a reservation for Saturday evenings! Even though the place was hopping the service was - as always - very attentive and we appreciated our waiter keeping track of when we had to leave for a concert.
I love the selection of wine-by-the-glass and the addition of the salad with Dungeness crab and orange slices to the appetizer menu. I am addicted to the Bar Mercurio Pizza. I should probably try some of the other pizzas, but I just can't seem to stop ordering it!
Thanks for the staff and chefs for another great dinner!"

"I was a regular (20 yrs ago) so I was disappointed by my most recent pre-theatre dinner at Fred's. We arrived 6ish on a Thurs night & it was almost empty. The host didn't seem interested when I told him I made a reservation. He was irritated that I asked to sit on the sidewalk patio (which was half empty). He just grunted. Server was a beautiful young lady who was very friendly and accommodating. My friend ordered a spicy curry dish & said it was very good. I opted for 2 appetizers: the lobster/crab bisque w/pastry topping was good. The simple salad I ordered was inedible. The spring mix was slimy and/or wilted and I asked the waitress to take it back to the kitchen. She did not offer to replace it, but removed it from the bill."

In a polished, comfortable, upscale space in Toronto's financial district, beerbistro does beer true justice. Aside from a carefully chosen selection of 120 ales and lagers, in the kitchen beer infuses, pitches, cures, marinates, poaches and stews in most of its imaginative fresh market cuisine. From mouthwatering sourdough pitched with Cantillon-a cherished belgian lambic, to pulled pork slowly smoked with coffee porter, to beer ice cream, beerbistro's menu is a veritable beer-kaleidoscopic wonderland. beerbistro delivers the great beer experience, celebrating it as an accompaniment to food, a versatile and flavorful ingredient and as a quenching refresher or soothing restorative. Don't know anything about beer? An incredibly hospitable and beer-savvy staff will convert even the toughest non-believers. Like beer? Hold on to the reins with both hands, as the leader of this industry's beer-cuisine genre, beerbistro is habit-forming. Come let us change the way you think beer.

"Very impressive beer menu and a nice friendly bar with a few screens for sports lovers. The patio is a quiet oasis in the centre of the city. The service is friendly too. The menu is not exhaustive, but had a nice selection of appetizers and mains for our Saturday lunch."
