Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.

"Celebrated a friends birthday by having dinner here. We frequent the bar for happy hour and thought we would splurge. The food was fabulous and they surprised the birthday girl with a small chocolate cake-like dessert big enough to share with the others. Our waiter was very attentive in keeping our water glasses full and taking a group photo. We'll be back for sure!"

John's Grill has been a San Francisco tradition since 1908. This historic restaurant is one of the city's oldest and most famous and is a favorite of celebrities who enjoy great steaks, expertly prepared fresh seafood with excellent service and a one of a kind atmosphere. John's Grill was a setting in author Dashiell Hammetts, The Maltese Falcon. The restaurant has earned many tributes: it has been chosen as one of the 10 best by Esquire and featured in Gourmet Magazine. Live jazz nightly in the upper level dining room.

"Happened to be there on Valentines Day and the service was very good in spite of a full house. Shared the Porterhouse steak with a friend and it was cooked to perfection. If you are a fan of The Maltese Falcon you must sit upstairs as the room is decorated with photos and articles of the movie. Extra bonus, you can buy the glasses that advertise the restaurant with the movie. I would definetly go back whenever I get the chance to return to the bay area. Almost forgot to mention the live entertainment - one man band. It was a nice touch."

"Love the european interior decorating at La Traviata with the high ceiling and crystal chandalier and canvas paintings on the walls. All of the wait staff were very friendly and the owner came to every table to great the customers and ask about their meal. I had the rack of lamb with the peppercorn sauce. It was mouth watering. And the chocolate cake was rich and delicious and went well with the last glass of the red wine."
