The lifestyle and food culture celebrated on an estancia, a large South American vineyard estate, is the inspiration for Victor Albisu’s flagship restaurant in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The airy, 174-seat agrarian space is home to a meat-driven, wine-centric menu that is a product of Albisu’s Latin American roots and travels throughout Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay.

"Brought the other half here for a birthday dinner. Wonderful (but expensive) wine list, interesting craft cocktails and AMAZING bread to start. Everything on the menu has an element of 'smoke' or 'burnt' to it, and we started with salmon ceviche (including creamy avocado and burnt shallots), beef empanadas (lovely garlic sauce). For a main, we shared the rib tips (delicious!) and the cilantro-encrusted tuna (which was actually a bit too spicy for my palate). For our last course we shared the s'mores which was delicious -- especially the toasted marshmallow ice cream. Service was outstanding. Our server was hugely knowledgeable and extremely attentive. The place was buzzing -- if you want a romantic, quiet table this isn't for you."

"Ate at Indique Heights after purchasing a Groupon. We love a good curry so decided to try. The restaurant is fairly large but it feels a bit dated with smudges all over the walls and chairs with tired fabric. Was 1/2 full on a Wednesday night at around 8 pm. We ordered a vegetarian thali and a chicken dish. Overall food was ok -- not great but nothing to complain about either. However, the service was abysmal. Our server was sullen, brought out the wrong drink order and as soon as our food arrived he positively ignored us. We had to wait ages for the check and he even passed right by our table at one point -- not to check in with us, but to push in a chair on another empty table! We'll not be returning here."

"Brought out of town visitors to SAX's burlesque brunch and we had a fabulous time! For a 'lounge and nightclub' I expected the interior to be tired and sticky -- but it was clean, plush and really well decorated. The bottomless mimosas and bloody marys are generous and continuous. The entertainment is tasteful and sort of above head level so it's kind of in the background but worth watching. Food was overall very good but some choices better than others. The mini muffins and cheese scones at the start of the meal were out of this world! The ginger squash soup was amazing, but the oatmeal 'brulee' was pretty poor -- not a brulee at all, but a bowl of oatmeal. Mains were decent -- the sliders looked the best, followed by the rib tips."

"Brought out of town visitors to Buck's for a mid-week dinner. The restaurant is decorated great and it's a cozy space. We all ordered steak in one form or another. Half of us ordered regular steak frites and half of us ordered their highly recommended filet. to be honest, while the more expensive filet was good -- it was pretty salty (having been marinated in soy sauce), so I think I prefer the regular steak frites. We didn't partake of dessert, but overall had a lovely evening and will return again for sure. Service was very friendly."

"Brought out of town visitors to Range for dinner mid-week. We shared a the 32-oz, family-style prime rib and it just about fed 5 of us (probably better for 4 or 5 if you have lots of appetizers). There were two small bowls of collard greens and mashed potatoes (these could have been bigger or 'refill-friendly'). Wine list was impressive, and we shared a bottle of white and red -- both very good. Service was very friendly and prompt -- we'll return here for sure."

"Brought some out-of-town guests to Founding Farmers Montgomery County and they were very happy we did. We all started with some of the restaurants craft beers and house-made cocktails. We then sampled some fried green tomatoes and farmhouse breads. Our mains were all excellent and we were so full that we didnt make room for dessert. Our server was really helpful and the kitchen was accommodating for our guests who did not eat pork."

"Ate dinner at Ripple with a work colleague. Our server was super friendly and boy did she know the wine list inside and out! She encouraged us both to try a couple of unique wines we'd never sampled before and her recommendations were spot on. My colleague and I both started with some cheese -- this was super delicious! We then ate a few small plates (salad, pasta, etc) and everything was cooked really well. Overall we had a lovely time and will return."
