Located on bustling Washington Circle in the West End, District Commons is anchored by a monumental raw bar and an open hearth oven for flatbreads and savory tarts. A 'Pig Board' of ham and biscuits will showcase a selection of America's finest hams. Chef/Owner Jeff Tunks serves up classic American cuisine in this gorgeous setting. Chili Glazed Duck, Brick Pressed Chicken, Classic Hanger Steak - these choices and more! Freshly baked breads and desserts round out your meal. Try one of our regional American drafts or exquisite wines, or sample from the 99 Beers on the Wall!

"This is a vibrant and lovely restaurant with tons of promise in the menu but it failed to deliver in terms of food. We dined there preceding theater at the Kennedy Center and at 6 on a Saturday, it was hopping. The menu is moderately priced and we were told that the meatloaf was great and large enough for 2+ so we shared that plus 2 salads. The salads were fine but uninspiring and the meatloaf, which arrived only lukewarm, was just ok - too sweet and not particularly tasty. The pretzel baguette was definitely the highlight of our meal so make sure that you try that with it's tasty butter spread. I would return but mostly because of proximity and vibe - food wise, it needs to do more to entice me back."

701 is a modern American restaurant with exquisite food framed by an elegant decor. Join us in our bar & lounge for our signature cocktails and small plates or dine with us in our sumptuous dining room. During the spring & summer, our patio is tucked onto the Navy Memorial plaza, with splashing fountains providing a very Parisian feel.

We offer pre-theater menus if you are going to a show, light fare in the lounge, and lunch at the bar specials for those tight on time. Our lunch menu is a favorite among business clientele; dinner is perfect for a special occasion or simply a special night out.

"Saturday night at 701 did not disappoint, from snacks of duck croquettes and crispy oysters on a bed of outstanding slaw, to the octopus appetizer followed by pork 3 ways and lamb and topped off with 4 different -one-better-the-next desserts (ANY ice cream is a must try), it was a come tell diminished dinner from start to finish with a beautiful malbec to complement. Loved our dinner and we definitely return!"

"Unum takes its obligation to restaurant week seriously, showcasing its food in an abbreviated menu that has plenty of choices and doesn't dummy down on the quality or quantity (if anything, there was TOO much food offered on the Restaurant Week menu). The service was very attentive, the food was beautifully prepared and interesting and delicious, and the ambiance is intimate, modern and lovely. Had it not been for Restaurant Week and tickets at the Kennedy Center, we might never had tried this gem but we will be back to taste other offerings not available to us last night. We have recommended that our son, the chef, run, not walk, to try Unum on his next night off!"
