This grand Victorian saloon is on two levels, with four distinctive bars, including an oyster bar, and six dining rooms. Open for dinner til late in the evening, it is the perfect spot before or after a Verizon Center event, movie or the theatre, and is open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch.

"Comfort food. Somewhat overpriced, but you won't send it back. Great atmosphere. Looks like a country club inside."

A classic American gathering place, the District Chophouse & Brewery is conveniently located 1/2 block South of The Verizon Center. We pride ourselves in serving the city's finest handcrafted beers and succulent steaks, mouthwatering chops, tasty seafood, and over-sized salads. Once you've eaten here, you'll agree the 'DC' stands for District Chophouse.

"The fillets are the best. The small size is just right and was prepared as requested at medium rare. A satisfying evening in a busy spot."

Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef José Andrés. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere.

"The gin and tonic special with the complimentary appetizer is a winner. For 2 people, 4 dishes are plenty. Very rich and filling. You can't go wrong."

"They put our group on the corner where servers and customers pass through. Their movements jarred the chairs. This downgraded the experience."

Firefly, the quintessential urban neighborhood restaurant, offers contemporary American comfort food to the city's many 'regulars' who dine out several times a week. Enjoy favorites like our matzoh ball soup, mini pot roast and a variety of 'Urban Picnics' to share...or not. We also have many seafood and some vegetarian options. The menu is designed to utilize products from our local farms and farmers. Hand-picked to compliment the cuisine, our award-winning wine list shows an affinity for small winemakers and producers and our seasonal specialty cocktail menu offers a bevy of unique libations.

"If you don't mind leaning forward during your conversation you'll be fine. The food is great. Swordfish was just right and my friend loved the risotto. The rhubarb and chocolate desserts were worth the next day's workout. It's packed in the evening, you can't even walk through the bar area, you have to walk around. They've got a good thing going, maybe that's why they don't risk expanding to a bigger space."

"We loved the cocktails, I had a mai tai. Fried chicken was the right portion. Greens were a little bland. Friends had the salmon and they gave it a thumbs up. Too full for dessert."
