NYEats's Reviews

One of America's most successful restaurants, this New York steakhouse opened in 1977 and has been a hit ever since. It is one of the most trafficked restaurants in New York City and among the most celebrated steakhouses in the world. Specializing in fresh seafood and lobster and assorted steaks and chops, Smith & Wollensky is well recognized for its healthy portions, seasoned service staff and pop Americana ambience. The painted wood exterior is dark forest green trim on sparkling white, with latticework trim. The elegant interior has turn-of-the-century appeal and design elements including shining brass, dark wood accents and polished wood floors. Adjacent to Smith & Wollensky's is Wollensky's Grill. The Grill (entrance on 49th St) is open from 11:30AM till 2:00AM but does not accept reservations.

"I came for lunch during restaurant week. Overall my experience was OK, nothing to write home about.
I sat at the bar to wait for my friend. The bartender was too busy talking to some girls, who seemed to be part of the staff visiting on their day off. He was sloppy and careless... I did get served a pretty good glass of wine (the Smith & Wollensky blend). Once we seated at our table we were offered water, which never came. We didn't really want any water so we didn't complain but I did hear other tables ask for the water it had been offered to them. The staff was friendly and attentive-all things considered-but seemed a little lost and sloppy, like the guy at the bar. Not what I was expecting... The food was decent, we had the fried calamari, split pea soup, crab cakes (good) and the dry-age sirloin (pretty good). For dessert we had the chocolate mousse cake, the pecan pie and the cheesecake- which was brought to us by mistake (my favorite of all of the desserts). The whipped cream which they serve the desserts with seemed to have broken, so it was a watery mess on the plate.
I will probably come back to see if they can redeem themselves, they will need to step up their game though!

The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance.

The Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors.

"After a few years wanting to come to this restaurant, I finally came for lunch with very high expectations. The restaurant itself exuberates elegance, class and good taste.
The staff is polite and has the right amount of friendliness- they don't keep coming to your table to see if everything's OK which is totally fine by me!
I had the tasting menu ($58) which included: Bay scallops, spinach cappeletti (amazing!), poached hake (meh!), Duck breast and bacon (wow!) and for dessert vanilla rice pudding, white chocolate krispies and basil. The tasting menu came with two entremets, some sort of carrot arancini (?) and chocolate squares- great also.
The restaurant is on the pricey side but I think the tasting menu has a great value- comparing to other restaurants in the city. The dishes are clean and balanced, simple and well thought. It's worth the occasional splurge!
I was very pleased with the whole experience and can't wait to come back!"

Chef Luke Wallace prepares seasonal inspired dishes at Tom Colicchio’s casual Flatiron restaurant. The menu features a wide variety of small & large plates from Snacks, House-Made Charcuterie, Salumi, Artisanal Cheeses, Salads as well as Handmade Pastas, all expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The rustic and comfortable dining room lends itself to a quick lunch where guests can try our Croque Monsieur, a full dinner of Choucroute Garnie and Ricotta Ravioli, or a snack of Pecorino Arancini and East Coast Oysters. We are also serving a soul-satisfying brunch with dishes like Pork Scrapple & Eggs and our Applewood Smoked Salmon prepared in-house. Be sure to save room for Pastry Chef, Abby Swain’s creations including her take on the S’mores Tart.

"I came to Craftbar for lunch during restaurant week. I've been to other Tom Colicchio restaurants so my expectations were high. I was very pleased with the overall experience! Compared to other RW restaurants, the menu was extensive and had a little bit for everyone. I had the risotto balls, the burger (suggested by the waiter- it was amazing!) and chocolate cake. My only issues were: the risotto balls were a bit bland and underwhelming. I regretted ordering them. Also, the mint whipped cream that's served with the chocolate cake had a weird taste when eaten alone, it tasted more like parsley than mint to me- however, when eaten together they made perfect harmony. I will definitely come back!"

We focus on bringing the best out of ingredients and transform them into exotic flavor profiles, yet in a simple form that our guests can relate to. Socarrat Nolita's ambience denotes feelings of warmth, comfort and hospitality. Building on its sister restaurant's identity as a small, intimate space comprised primarily of one large communal table, the restaurant also offers banquet, bar and table seating.

Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.

Socarrat Nolita also offers several tapas, wines by the glass, Spanish desserts, and sangria.

"After being recommended over and over again, I finally went with friends. Every single item we ordered was delicious! We had several tapas (patatas bravas, datiles, gambas al ajillo, cochinilo asado-wow! and one of the cocas) as well as the meat paella- very pleased! Just thinking about it makes me hungry (!!!). It was a Saturday afternoon and it was a little slow so the waiter gave us his full attention. He was VERY polite and friendly, gave us great recommendations. I will definitely go back to try the other paellas that they have on the menu!"

"It's a little bit more upscale than the (many) other Indian restaurants in the area and just as good! Whether you're vegetarian or not, you'll find something indulging and satisfying. I've come a couple of times already and there's no doubt that I will be coming back! The service is great, the staff is very friendly."
