Jeffrey and Sallie Buben's Woodward Table, housed in the historic Woodward Building is a concept that exudes a timeless feel with neighborhood charm. Located just one block from The White House, Woodward presents a "table" of dining possibilities with two eateries...the main restaurant with its creative and diverse American menu and Woodward Takeout Food, a sprite artisanal alternative for breakfast and lunch. The soul of Woodward Table's cooking involves creating seasonal iconic American dishes, a chef's contemporary approach and a regional repertoire of ingredients. Woodward Takeout Food, aka WTF, adjacent to the restaurant, creates a quick serve American breakfast or lunch for the busy Washingtonian, available to eat in or take out. Woodward Takeout Food is like being in a good cook's kitchen...a venue of sights and sounds with the bakery of the entire restaurant located at one end. Smell the fresh baked bread and other concoctions as you place your ord

"The food is OK and Woodward appears to be shooting for the same kind of concept as Old Ebbitt Grill. It has a vast menu that can satisfy almost any food need (seafood, salad, charcuterie, entrees).
There is a very active bar scene in Woodward and I may eat at the bar the next time I visit."

Guests can anticipate cuisine from Chef Roberto Donna’s home region of Piemonte, Italy with a focus on the town of Alba. Guests can anticipate an expansive salumi and formaggi counter, plus a selection of antipasti, house-made pastas (available in small and large portions), and Neapolitan pizzas. A variety of daily specials displayed in “Italian sized” portions will also be available for sharing in the traditional Piemontese fashion.

"I ran in a half marathon earlier in the day and stopped into Cap Grille for lunch, with a friend. We had 4 rounds of Stoli Dolis and some very well prepared red meat. I had the cheeseburger and he had a bone-in rib eye. The food is always very well prepared at Cap Grille."

"I really enjoy the ease of dining inside of Ulah. It is a great spot for a long or short lunch and VERY convenient to the Green line train station (U Street). The food is well prepared and the service is attentive."

Located in the heart of the Mt. Vernon Square neighborhood in D.C. is Kushi, an izakaya and sushi restaurant serving some of the best Japanese cuisine in the city. Izakaya - a traditional Japanese restaurant serving grilled items created from the highest quality ingredients (many of which are flown in daily from Japan) - is represented well here, as Kushi uses a deep charcoal robata pit and smaller yakitori grills to create its delicacies. The grill counter is located in the main dining area and has 30 seats wrapping around it. To complement the grilled meats and vegetables, Kushi presents a fantastic array of fresh sushi and unique concoctions ranging from small-batch sakes and shochus to Japanese microbrews. Focusing on organic and sustainable ingredients, Kushi also puts an emphasis on fresh and delicious seafood. The restaurant features polished steal, reclaimed woods and warm lighting. Kushi offers seats at the grill counter, sushi bar, regular bar and dining room.

"Zest was busy on this Saturday. It appeared this is a spot where a number of families had children.
I had the burger and my dining companion ate the ahi tuna club. Both entrees were very good and would order them again. The service was slightly backed up on this Saturday."

"I had a great Christmas Eve dinner with a friend and experienced relatively slow service due to the restaurant being busier than usual. The food was very good (grilled octopus, fried eggplant, lamb kleftico, honey cookies for dessert) but the service left me feeling like the front of house management had not scheduled the appropriate amount of servers for the evening."
