Stephen Starr brings his signature brand of hospitality and design to the nation’s capital with the opening of Le Diplomate, located at 14th & Q. Serving lunch, brunch and dinner, the stylish 260 seat restaurant transports diners to the beloved cafés of Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. The extensive menu features a variety of classic dishes including Onion Soup Gratinee, Steak Frites, and Poulet Roti as well as contemporary bistro fare, with dishes such as Shaved Veal Tongue with Mache and Bavette de Boeuf à l’Echalote. A thoughtfully curated wine list and cocktail program perfectly complements the cuisine and creates an environment suitable for romantic dinners or lively group gatherings. In warmer weather, enjoy dining "en plein air" in the stunning outdoor café where you can take in the bustling energy of DC while sipping on the perfect kir royale.

"Getting the reservation is the hardest part here. Had to reserve over two weeks ago for a Wednesday night, which was my birthday. The staff made us feel very welcomed and we were seated promptly. There was a nice wine list and we imbibed accordingly. I had the escargot appetizer (very tasty with a slightly different sauce than one expected), and the Moule Frites for the main course. They were good, not fantastic (the frites were a over salted). My wife had the king crab legs an au gratin potatoes which she enjoyed. Our other guests had mixed reviews, but to be honest, they complain wherever we go. The restaurant comped me a rum cake for my birthday, I enjoyed it immensely. We will return."

Housed in the historic B&O Building and named after the Baltimore & Ohio railroad, B&O American Brasserie features an approachable menu of brasserie fare. Guests can sip on hand crafted classic cocktails while enjoying top notch service. The eclectic menu features hand cut steaks, sustainable fish and many vegetarian options. The experience includes a bustling bar, an inviting lounge; an open kitchen all housed a beautiful dining room that evokes modern sophistication.

"I had been to the American Brasserie before, albeit a couple of years ago, and remembered it as being fairly good. Time has not been kind here. Although the serving staff and quasi-management tried to please us, the food frankly was not too good. Two entrees had to be sent back because they were cold and the other two were not prepared as ordered (0 for 4). When our replacement meals came (with apologies) they were mediocre and overly salted. It's rare when I don't finish the meal, but in this case it just wasn't worth the extra salt intake. By the time the dessert menus came, my party agreed, no más. Probably will be many years before returning. I hate giving bad reviews, but this one was deserved."

In a comfortable setting, just across the street from the historic Uptown Theater in Cleveland Park, Ripple offers a complete dining experience, with a focus on sustainability, organic and locally-acquired produce, and a good time. We are proud to support local farmers and co-ops in our mission to bring only the best products to the table.
Our award winning wine list features 50 wines by the glass and bottles starting at $25, with over 70 wines under $50. In addition, we have extensive beer and cocktail menus, to complete any meal.
Above all, we believe in hospitality and hope that everyone who dines with us will feel comfortable and enjoy their time with us. We truly are a place to eat, drink, and gather.

"Ripple's menu is limited to the daily offerings, and as such only provides a handful of entrees per day. That being said, the preparation is quite inventive and they use seasonally available ingredients. I had only hoped that the serving portions were just a bit larger (I suppose that's one way to keep costs reasonable), because I left wanting more. I would recommend a cheese course as an excellent meal starter. The atmosphere is quite convivial and the servers are very knowledgable. If you are a picky eater, this may not be the place for you. But for everyone else, who enjoys food, you will have a good time."
