Jeanne D'Arc is an elegant yet reasonably priced French restaurant located near Nob Hill and Union Square in the Cornell Hotel de France. Replete with tapestries, stained glass and artifacts, the decor celebrates the life and deeds of France's legendary heroine, Joan of Arc.

Founded by the Lambert family in 1972, the restaurant is a favorite of locals and visitors. Jeanne D'Arc offers a prix fixe menu and a cellar of well chosen California and Frence wines. The restaurant is perfect for before-curtain supper, a gathering of good friends, or romance with conversation.

"This is an absolutely beautiful, and very romantic restaurant, in the basement level of the Hotel Cornell de France. There are a number of nooks and crannies, archways, portals, etc. leading to private or semi-private dining spaces, all of which will add romance to the evening. Service is topnotch (we had Dan) with good knowledge and recommendations about the cuisine. The very friendly owner stops by to visit with the diners. And on some evenings there is live entertainment. On our visit it was an accordionist and French chantreuse. The food measures up to the surroundings and the price is one of the best bargains in town. It is prix fixe only – four courses for only $44!! And there are choices for each course. For our dinner we chose for entrees the lamb in puff pastry and the Coquilles St. Jacques. Both of these dishes were excellent. The wine list is not long, but is very well chosen, with a number of off-the-track French wines. This restaurant is not on most tourist radars yet, but may be soon."

"This is an old fashioned white-linen tablecloth restaurant with black napkins, a true sign of class. The very romantic main dining room is gorgeous, with a number of beautiful paintings on the wall. Also included are five gold-leaf mirrors and a grand fireplace. Service (led by Dynise) was impeccable, professional and attentive but seamless. And the food is of the same caliber. In addition to the main menu, there are a chef’s 5-course (plus a couple of surprises) tasting menu with wine pairings available, and also a special menu for two. The tasting menu is extremely reasonable at $75 and the wine pairing is only $30 for 5 two-ounce pours. This menu changes monthly. Ours included pork belly, mushroom-fennel bisque, Pancetta wrapped sea scallop, hazelnut-encrusted lamb, and carrot cake bread pudding. There is an outstanding wine list that has received a number of awards and a creative cocktail menu. There is also courtyard dining in addition to the dining rooms and valet parking is also available. The Firehouse provided an outstanding dining experience and I highly recommend it for special occasions or romantic evenings."

"This fairly new restaurant (august 2014) is still finding its way, but off to a great start. The food is very tasty. We tried two tangines. The lamb Kofta with carrots, olives, potatoes was very good, but the Marin beef cheek tangine was exceptional. Terrine of duck liver mousse was also very tasty as was the pan roasted monkfish in a Moroccan tomato sauce. For dessert, the chocolate fondant was a bit dry. They were out of the pastille which was a bit disappointing. There is an interesting wine list that includes Moroccan and Lebanese selections. The servers were very friendly and accommodating but they don’t yet have their act quite together. I am sure in time it will be fine. The décor is warm and soothing. We will return."
